You go to the upgrade vendor in the PVP area now – however i just tried to upgrade the off hand and it lets me go though the motions then tells me “item cannot be modified”

Welcome to Wowhead’s Dragonflight Primal Storms guide! This guide aims to cover everything about Primal Storms, one of the World Events that can appear in the Dragonflight expansion. We detail everything from things to do in the event to a list of rewards of doing said events.

Why Should I Participate in Primal Storms?

There are some reasons players might be interested in farming Primal Invasions:

Primal Storms Basics

Primalist Invasions are a new type of event that happens in Dragonflight. Every 3 hours, two Dragon Isles zones will receive a Primalist force invasion in certain areas. The locations are marked with a red X on your Dragon Isles map. Invasions last for 2 hours and there will be no invasions available on the map for 1 hour, giving them an effective 3-hour rotation.

There are four types of Invasions that can happen: Storm, Earth, Fire, and Water Primalist invasions. Each invasion fills the area with Primalist NPCs, as well as imbuing already existing NPCs in the area with abilities of the invading element. The invaded area also changes to more closely match the attacking element.

There are no set objectives on Primal Invasions - The objective here is to grind NPCs to collect currency and purchase gear. You’re able to purchase two tiers of gear with Primalist Invasions, one on a currency that can be grinded whenever an invasion is up, and a rarer currency available on a weekly basis.

  • Elemental Overflow is the main currency that drops from Primal Invasion, dropping from almost all mobs in the invasion. Elemental Overflow is used to purchase the Rare quality (ilvl359) gear from invasions, as well as mounts and pets.

  • Storm Sigil is a weekly currency that can be obtained once per type of invasion per week. Storm Sigils are used to upgrade Rare-quality invasion gear into Epic quality gear (ilvl385).

Primal Storms Rewards

There are plenty of rewards for players willing to do Primal Invasions, raging from pets, mounts and achievements.

Unstable Elemental Confluence Heirloom Trinket

The Unstable Elemental Confluence Heirloom trinket originally available during the Dragonflight Pre-Patch event is available to obtain once more during the Dragonflight Primal Invasions. As this event is structurally different from the Pre-Patch event, it is currently unknown how to obtain the pieces that constitute the trinket - Dimmed Primeval Earth, Dimmed Primeval Fire, Dimmed Primeval Storm, Dimmed Primeval Water.

It is currently theorized that these pieces will simply be a low drop rate from mobs in Primal Invasions. The guide will be updated accordingly once more is discovered about how to obtain the Unstable Elemental Confluence trinket.

Primal Invasion Profession Patterns

Some Profession Patterns can be obtained from Primal Invasions, as a low drop rate chance:

Primal Storms Mount and Pets

Players are able to obtain a mount and several Battle Pets in Primal Invasions:

Elemental Overflow Mount and Pet Purchases

You can obtain two battle pets and one mount from Primal Invasions. All of these rewards can be purchased from Mythressa in Valdrakken, and they cost Elemental Overflow.

Ghostflame

Cost: 1000 Elemental Overflow
A dream of the memory of fire.

Stormie

Cost: 1000 Elemental Overflow
As an egg, this proto-drake was struck by a freak bolt of lightning. Years later, the lightning still lives inside.

Stormhide Salamanther

Cost: 2000 Elemental Overflow
Sometimes when storm energies infuse a creature, it simply
becomes larger and more placid. Few salamanthers are willing to be ridden, but these children of the storm are a notable exception.

Primal Storm Pet Drops

The following Battle Pets have a low chance to drop in invasions:

Echo of the Heights

Chance to drop from Storm Invasion mobs
In the mountain air, frost lingers upon the grass as a storm rolls in.

Echo of the Depths

Chance to drop from Water Invasion mobs
What the deep claims, none can reclaim.

Echo of the Inferno

Chance to drop from Fire Invasion mobs
A spark can become an ember. An ember can become a raging fire. This creature was never a spark or an ember, it has only ever been a raging fire.

Echo of the Cave

Chance to drop from Earth Invasion mobs
Formed by the reckless use of elemental magic, the slumbering earth awakens. It is angry.

Primal Storms Gear

Primal Invasions offer two tiers of gear: A starter Rare-quality set gear, offered at ilvl359, and a way to improve that first set of gear with an Epic-quality ilvl385 gear. Primal Invasion gear covers all slots but Necklaces, Rings and Trinkets. Primal Invasion gear also offers set bonuses that help improve your damage and survivability while outdoors in the Dragon Isles.

Elemental Overflow Gear (ilvl359)

This is the basic gear from Primal Invasions, which can be purchased with Elemental Overflow, the currency that drops from all mobs from the invasion. Mythressa is the NPC that sells these pieces of gear, in Valdrakken.

Gear Slot Cost
Belts, Bracers, Cloaks 200
Off-Hands, Shields 300
Boots, Gloves, Shoulders 350
Strength/Agility 1H Weapons 400
Chests, Helms, Pants, Intellect 1H Weapons 500
All 2H Weapons, Ranged Weapons 800

Storm Sigil Gear (ilvl 385)

The improved gear from Primal Invasions can be purchased from Storm Sigil. Storms Sigils can be obtained once a week per invasion (with each quest giving 2 Storm Sigils), by looting an item that has a low chance to drop from all mobs in that invasion. As there are four types of invasions that can happen per week, this means you can obtain a total of 8 Storm Sigils per week .

All Storm Sigil quests are turned in to Rethelshi in Valdrakken, who also serves as the vendor for Storm Sigil gear. You can also talk to Rethelshi at any time to check your progression on how many Storm Sigils you looted for the week, and which invasions you might be missing sigils for.

Purchasing gear from Storm Sigils requires a certain number of Storm Sigils, plus their equivalent in the Elemental Overflow gear . IE, you wanna purchase a ilvl385 Storm Sigil chest, you need to exchange your ilvl359 Elemental Overflow chest plus the amount of Sigils used to purchase it.

Are you a bot? All that testament and didn’t answer the OP’s question. And in fact, your info is outdated because Rethelshi doesn’t sell storm gear anymore, which was the initial purpose of this post.

bruh why would you copy and paste crap we already know and doesn’t answer the op’s question?

He has been reported for hacking and botting.

dude just did a copy paste. lol calm down

back to the question, where do we buy this stuff now? is it on the new primal invasion vendor?

Yeah but he didn’t answer the question. It’s absolute, unnecessary spam.

The tokens can be used to upgrade gear with item upgrade vender. but there is lots of inconsistancies. looks like blue gear upgrades better then it did before. like 470 ilvl pvp. but if you bought primal infused gear from any set
no upgrade path. but any blue or epic gear the is not infused upgrades once! So all the tokens we just spent feel waisted on 385 pve gear with 421 pvp

no idea wth you’re talking about. the op wants to know where the vendor went for the 385 primal storm gear.

it’s gone! you use the item upgrade vendors now.

seems dumb lol why remove stuff that people know where it’s at? what is this upgrade vendor where?

that said upgrade are
 weird atm.

like a blue quality drakebreaker cloak is 1/2 and 366 ilvl with 408 pvp ilvl it upgrades to 404 ilvl with 476 pvp ilvl.

the same item just last week upgraded to primal infused gear with 385 ilvl and 421 pvp ilvl. with no upgrades attached to the item.

This change penalises everyone that just spent there currency to upgrade to 385/421 gear

You now upgrade the primal storm gear at the NPC in the Valdrakken PVP room, he’s called ‘Corxian (Item Upgrades)’.

it’s broken, i’d hold off upgrading till after wednesday maintenance.
