At the same time, FF14 has a large amount of toxic casualism that makes the midcore area of the game dead. There is a rather large wall between the casual and hardcore content.
Idk, that has a place I suppose, but I don’t see the issue with wanting to be better. Yea, some people take the competition too far, but no competition means people take advantage and don’t try enough. Look at LFR, it’s a good example of no base skill requirement, and it’s ugly.
Did another streamer say something something FFXIV good or something?
Idk people are astroturfing again.
Prob cause you shrug it off
But for some, the mistreatment is not going to fly.
OP, people in WoW seem to have nothing else in their miserable lives. you can tell from some of these posts that this attitude is so beaten into the community, so ingrained in its roots that they can’t fathom a neutral to enjoyable experience being the norm in other games. you’re screaming into the void here. either min max and research all the time so that your 3 or 4 different arbitrary numbers go up or stick to other games lest you feel the wrath of the spread sheet gamers.
it’s definitely not all good, the point people are making is that the experience you’ll have will likely be better overall. having played the game for 9ish years, i could count on one hand the number of genuinely bad experiences i had in random groups, and i can only remember the details of one of them (i actually screenshotted it)
i have noticed a slight decline in the community in the last couple years, which my tinfoil hat says may have something to do with all of the ex-WoW players that migrated over to try the game. but like i said, overall the community is much more forgiving and friendly
No one is saying is this lol
Having played both the communities seem legit the exact same. I know this may upset you guys, but legit I have the same experience on both games lmao.
I don’t know man, I’m pretty toxic in FF14. I’m usually tanking but I still go out of my way to hug the dead people on fights lol.
You’re coming into the tail end of an expansion. Did you inform anyone you were new? Doing it 1-2 times is still enough to pull the new card.
99.9% of the time people assume everyone else is just as much of an old hand as them, and think you’re having a laugh. “It’s been out for two years!” they’ll say.
also lol classic community you’re funny.
Some of those rez macros are pretty toxic sometimes, if you read them lol. Healing in FF14 is depression central.
lel healing in FF
Im sorry, third ranged damage dealer.

My standard that I’ve been too afraid to use sometimes in case we have touchy DC travelers
What is toxic casualism?
There is no problem with you wanting to be better the problem is trying to force that way of thinking on to others. Some people are happy with their level of game play, this is a game they play for fun after all. LFR is a whole can of worms you have people that just don’t try because it is LFR. Not just people with no base skill but high level players that just don’t want to be the effort in for their transmog.
Like I said in a previous post. I can see that kind of enviroment having a place in the mmo sphere, but I believe there’s always going to be a big place for competative gameplay. If you take skill requirement out of the equation, there’s also a host of new issues that arrise. Some people aren’t ok with whipping 20 times on 1 boss.
Look at LFR. You could argue the skill requirement for LFR is largely removed, but that hasn’t created some kind of fruitful pleasant experience, it’s actually the opposite. A lot of players not pulling their weight and wasting others time. My take on it is. It’s the same people inhabiting FF14’s community as wow’s. Just like most online gaming communities are very similar. They are just attempting to make it something it’s really not, and that’s why most will return to wow. People want to feel real progression and competition. Look at games like LOL. It’s massively successful, and also massively competitive to be known to have one of the most “toxic” communities.
I really think over half the time somebody cries “toxic” here, it’s mostly their own fault. Yea, some crazy people exist in all online games, but you just ignore, report and move on. Wow having a competitive community is a very good thing, because competition isn’t inherently toxic at all.
A lot of guild groups bully pugs in my experience. They feel superior being supported by the peers in the voice chat. I always brace for a rough run when I end up matched with a guild group.
Basically think of elitism but reversed. For instance, when people complain about how too simple some kits in FF14 are (this came up a lot in the summoner change/healing encounters) where asking for some level of difficulty or skill needed gets resulted in anger or toxicity reflected back at the suggestor.
Look i am playing dragoon and rping the dragoon experience.
