Look at what happened to runescape, h1z1, fortnite when one version becomes completely and more inherently popular that the other… the other is just outright abandoned.
Fortnite save the world has gotten zero content updates since fortnite battle Royale popped off.
Same for h1z2 king of the kill vs. The game it was originally intended to be.
This guy has no clue. Original wow was an RPG world. Current wow isn’t much of that, as it doesn’t make sense to be able to press a button and get into a raid. All that without even having to discover where the raid is. The raid may not even be accessible from the World without pushing that button.
The immersion is broken with these changes. You’re now playing an action game, where you enter a lobby, press a button, get into an instance, play, log out.
I’m not saying what we have now is bad, just that it’s an action game, not an mmorpg. For those of us who want an mmorpg, classic was a better design.
It will absolutely overtake retail initially with the tourist visits. But long-term, the chasm between people craving new content and the #nochanges folks will grow too great. You literally cannot please both.
(And that’s just the people who even stick it out to classic endgame in the first place.)
I don’t believe you at all man. You need to have a leveled up character in OSRS to vote. If they did the same system in classic WoW it would be nearly impossible for them to do that.
In OSRS you need a 75% vote to pass anything so if people really care about pure classic nothing would change anyway.
I really think they should go with the OSRS system but not on the same servers as the normal classic game, that way both sides get what they want and Blizzard can continue to grow the number of players interested in it. I also think they should wait a year or so so people that want to play in both have time to finish up in normal classic servers.
There will be no updates for the pure classic servers so as soon as they finish they can just ignore those servers and work on something different.
Yeah I agree, I prefer the classic old RPG world compared to modern WoW in nearly every way. Back then the world felt like a huge open sandbox while the current system is a theme park style game and I have lost interest in most of the rides.
Modern WoW’s world just feels pointless these days. Outside of WM incursions and collecting herbs and ore I don’t have a reason to leave the city.
At the end of my tenure with retail, it became more about collecting xmogs than anything else… the only truly lasting ‘rewards’. That and hording gold because it justified my alt stable.
Yeah i read that thread.
-It states that they sold 3.4 million copies in a single day, it doesn’t state anywhere on the internet that they only sold that many.
-It also assumes 50% of the playerbase uses weak aura’s.Which is massively unfeasible.
Heelsvsbabyfaces guesstimate is probably closer @ 1.9 million simply due to the fact it’s based off server stats, not an addon.
There’s an entire megathread about it in general discussion.
Really isn’t that hard to use your brain… on one hand we recently got a leak that it was at 2 million on another BFA only sold 3.7 million copies so it dwindling down to 2 million lines up pretty well.
i was speaking logically but that still makes no sense to me.
why do people feel that the only way to make the game modern (which is opposite of the term authentic), is to use another game that isnt even remotely similar in comparison, as an example?
this is starting to get as toxic as the helf debate. ignoring blizzard’s own statements on it, being toxic toward anyone who echo’s those statements and then to top it off, the constant condescending attitude that- because they are retail players> automatically get what they want.
blizzard really needs to crack down on this toxicity. they have GD to talk about modern wow, changes etc- doesnt need to be brought over here where their (blizzard) design philosophy is key to its success.
its like walking into a gym where you KNOW 99% of them work out and then being a scumbag toward them about that fact and encouraging them to be fat and lazy.
Im just tired of people screaming toxic vs. Anything that disagrees or criticizes them.
You can be playing this game, asking why people are fighting on roads and you’ll have that rando crying that your question was toxic… it has gotten really old how people throw the phrase around wily nily.
I don’t know about “easily overtaking it” but if it overtakes it or even vaguely competes with it sub wise I would consider that really impressive for a 15 year old game.
