Retail at 2 million subs, classic will easily overtake it

Source please?

Source with what? The pages I have read? I am sorry I did not feel the need to bookmark them.

I am sorry I must ask, when they said classic was released, did you assume that it would be played on 1.12 no matter what? You never wondered if they would start at 1.1 and perhaps release them periodically like they did with classic to give everyone the true classic experience again?? True classic was 1.1 the end of vanilla and pre burning crusade was 1.12. But you are saying you and everyone else knew all along it would be 1.12 and that me saying there were people debating what patch vanilla would be played on could never of happened?

No I didn’t. I was honestly hoping for around 1.9. All the updated buffs but old warrior threat.
I didn’t want the mess that was 1.1 though either.
I want old school a.v as well.

No, we are getting classic because of legal reasons with the IP. The way Blizzard really feels is that we had no clue what we where talking about and that they know best.

Funny because the devs themselves said we were getting it because fans asked for it. Your whole ip thing got debunked because of various clause.

The devs also said this, funny right?

You guys really overestimate how popular classic is going to be. I don’t think they will have more than 100k worldwide at it’s peek and that’s perfectly fine.

They had over 200k sign a petittion for classic alone.

Que?
The petition that was printed and hand delivered to Blizzard with signatures in favor for Legacy servers was over 200,000 and not even to mention people like myself who never even heard of the petition until after Classic was announced by blizzard.

Proves nothing about how the number will be after release. I got people to sign it that don’t even play WoW anymore and there where plenty of people that on the forums that said they did the same at the time.

We loved WoW classic but you need to understand that we are a minority, most people do not like games like classic. Then even more will not have the time to play a game like classic. Then you have even more that will not even look at the game because of the graphics.

The new generation of gamers are not the same as we where when we where kids and many of those from the past will have moved on, don’t care or have a life.

The game will blow up when it’s released but just like retail it will get to the point that there are no new players (in meaningful numbers) that join in and it will die outside of the hardcore fans and casuals that just play for a little fun here and there.

Dude most the posters on this forum don’t play wow anymore. Lol. They are waiting for classic.

And whats that have to do with anything? I guess I should have said the handful of people I made sign it don’t give a :poop: about it and not just WoW.

Anyway, my point is don’t overhype yourself on this.

Looking at your posts with Makjuice I can tell you where not around the forums too much back then but we had a ton of support from people that play retail.

He is right btw about all the posts people made, I’m sure if you go back onto the old forums and search you can find a ton of those old threads as they where pretty popular.

You said people signed that petition who don’t even play wow anymore.
Well no crap, there are a ton of unsubbed people who would come back for classic. That is why they signed the petition.

And when did we have a ton of support from retail fans? Fans of classic were mocked for asking for classic.

Go look up old threads if you don’t believe anyone about how the forums were back then.

Yes there were also trolls there are always trolls this is the internet, but around the time of the petition, there was a good amount of support from retail players that also signed it.

I was clearly talking about the people I personally got to sign it when I made the comment about not playing WoW.

Again the petition also means nothing about true numbers. Anyone could sign it, make fake signatures to give it more support get people to sign that don’t care among other things.

Yes like Mini said there are those that also found out later and there will be those that think they won’t play but end up falling in love with the game after trying it out. I’m sure most of WoW’s retail subscribers will try out classic but don’t expect too many to continue playing let alone reach lvl 60.

There are people going around saying classic will have 2-10mil subs and that’s just silly. the majority of people do not like games like WoW anymore, even if it was released with new graphics and everything was better in different ways the majority of gamers out there would still never play it as it’s just not the style of game that is popular, we are a small niche group these days. From what I know before WoW and the MMO hype RTS games used to be super popular. Then came the MOBA games and now it’s battle royal games like Fortnight.

Except old school runescape has double the player count of "live " runescape with this system.

Sounds a lot like the reason old school runescape was made lmao

Old School RuneScape isn’t a good example of what Classic WoW’s success will be. OSRS has player voted changes and tons of additional content, and quality of life changes; it’s nothing like RuneScape was in 2007. Not to mention, RuneScape in 2007 was not even Classic RuneScape. They had a Classic RuneScape service that they shutdown in August 2018:

how exactly does runescape come into a topic about classic wow?

as the one making the claim, it is on you to provide the evidence backing up your claim.

go read the very first post.
the TLDR is it’s yet another person who says the only way classic will have long term success is if we have it go OSRS style.
cuz we totally haven’t heard that before.

Yeah that’s the point. You purist are trying to kill classic before it is then out when the old school runescape system is showing to be way superior for handling nostalgic lost in time game.
