Ret Paladins are still a liability in group PvP

There are at least three per BG I am in. I’m a holy paladin.

The class still has to run all the way in to do any considerable damage. No snare, even though Shaman got Blessing of Freedom.

No interrupt, because in the Devs genius they put that rune on the same one as Exorcism.

Very little ranged damage. But Shaman get Lava Burst.

Cleanse is borked by allowing Rogues to stack so many poisons. And giving Warlocks Unstable Affliction.

Ret Paladins need to have a snare. You gave Freedom to Shaman(why?). Throw the Alliance a bone.

Hammer of Justice stuns. and stuns cause casts to be interrupted.

These Ret players may be doing it for fun. You know, the reason most games exist.

HoJ is not considered an interrupt. Interrupts do damage.

I think they would have more fun with more in the toolkit.

Interupts do a tiny amount of damage. HoJ doesnt. Dont be obtuse. HoJ isnt an interrupt. Thanks for the forum bump though.

Enemy stops cast when you LoS too. Is that an interrupt? :roll_eyes:

this is false. the cast finishes when the target is not eligible.

I don’t think ret paladins in of themselves as a spec are the problem, the issue I see every BG is that every ret human male paladin just charges in and dies and then does it again, and then AFKs. Complete and total monkey mode.

BGs have always just been a bunch of ranged casters hitting you across the map. It isn’t just Rets struggling but all Melee. BGs are not balanced. If you want to spam BGs (And be good at it) be a ranged class like SP/Boomie/Mage etc

THis is all a Ret Paladin can do. And since there is no snare, it just become a chase scenario where ret is blown up. No healing reduction, stun that can be dispelled, no speed boost. The spec doesnt have any kind of difference maker outside of HoJ.

Not quite true imo, they have the potential to do so much more than that and IMO are not supposed to be played by charging in. EVERY melee will get blown up, but ret paladin has ranged support abilities most people do not utilize. Even if not specced for it they can still cast heals, can still BoP, can still freedom. As a defensive screen that can transition into burst damage ret has value, but for some reason most ret paladin players have yet to develop the opposable thumbs to utilize that. The blame lies in the players, not the spec (though I won’t disagree that some classes like Shaman and Spriest are still BS).

So Ret is supposed to sit in the back and heal with no +healing or Int gear on? Waste their freedom on another person? Those are Holy’s jobs, not Ret.

I know what youre saying but when in AB, it just seems that if Ret is doing those things, they are not being as helpful as just having a different DPS class who can actually do damage.

So what you’re saying is the best way to play ret is to play holy?

ret is broke asf dude and this is coming from a SP. even my lock/shaman buddies agree
