So enchants would be the same as a warrior right? other then lifestealing possibly on weapon and minor haste on gloves if you’re wielding nightfall? anything else I missed?

whether the haste enchants are a minor buff at best when swinging Nightfall is up for debate - compared to the standard +15 agi to gloves and +8 AGI to head/legs
our testing showed that you get maybe another swing or two every minute compared to being able to provide more crit to ALL of your white swings and maintain Vengeance
So other then lifestealing the rest would be nearly just basic warrior enchants then?
-Sinclaire -Torch-
100% correct - people are free to try the haste enchants if they like - but overall it’s not a huge boost compared to enchanting for AGI
It’s been 13 years since I played classic last. I had forgotten that it even existed. I can thank both old age and pruning in the modern game for that.
it’s all good - I sometimes forget things myself on how abilities/talents functioned and need to refresh my memory
So as far a nightfall wielding spec on a blizzlike server if improved seal of righteousness ends up scaling with other talents would this be some what of an ideal spec? classicdb.ch/?talent#sxVzZVuZef0tbcqo ?
-Sinclaire -Torch-
for pure PvE I would take the 1 point in Guardian’s Favor and the point for Repentance and go 5/5 Benediction - but yes that would be the spec to use
If Imp SoR does NOT scale with spell damage then I would go 5/5 Divine INT instead of 5/5 Imp SoR instead as at least that talent scales with your gear and therefore increases your total mana pool as a result.
Not a bad idea, thanks this spreadsheet stuff is a pain in the butt lol. even tho its for personal use I want all the right information I can find on it.

if you are a tank-group paladin then instead of a redoubt you should take an improved devotion aura
you overestimating the value of bop/freedom,
freedom is nearly never used in raids,
and bop… somtimes you have a few weeks of raiding without a single possibility of using it,
and even if there is a possibility, then you were competing with other paladins on free_gcd/reaction_time
you underestimating the value of improved lay on hands, this is one of the most powerful support tool and can be used before combat and in oh $hit situations
dont forget, sometimes you dont need all 3 points in precision,
with some gear combination you were able to not going to prot at all,
something like
classicdb.ch/?talent#sE0zbZVhZef0tbcq
if you have enough hit, then take a point from percision to repentance (no rep dont have any pve usage)
if you really want to raid as ret, i should warn you (again),
don’t want to threaten you, but more like to give a friendly advice:
don’t try to raid as ret paladin (at least from the beginning, holy is easier to find gear and group),
it’s not worth it,
you will face a lot of prejudice from others(from the beginning) and it is not fun,
many ppl just won’t take you seriously,
and NF boting is a very niche and boring thing which doesn’t actually need a paladin;
it will be very hard to find your sunny place;
even if we look on nost (or how its named now),
you can see a lot of ret paladins (mostly in $hitty gear) on bgs, but only a few in raids,
there is a reason for it;
So if lifestealing can proc vengeance does that mean lifestealing can also crit? I read that sanctity aura also boosts the damage along with sayge darkmoon faire damage buff?
-Sinclaire -Torch-
yes - pound for pound Fiery enchant is more DPS over Lifestealing - as it does 40 hit and 60 crit vs 30 hit and 45 crit for Lifestealing
but Fiery is useless in MC/BWL/Onyxia as most mobs in those raids are immune to Fire damage making Lifestealing better overall for earlier raids and for PvP as well of course since you also gain a self heal
while both enchants do not scale with +spell damage from your gear or potions/flasks you drink, they do scale with Curse of the Elements/Shadow, Imp Scorch, Shadow Weaving, Nightfall +15% spell dmg debuff, Darkmoon Faire’s +10% dmg buff as well as other mob vulnerabilities (ie: Chromaggus’ rotating spell school vulnerability)
one other added bonus of either Fiery/Lifestealing on top of triggering Vengeance when they crit is that the proc also takes out a Shaman’s Grounding Totem in PvP
one other item that we need to find out once and for all once classic launches - is whether this one-time-use quest reward enchantment scales with spell dmg or not:
Fiery Blaze Enchantment
Binds when picked up
Use: [Enchants a weapon to have a 15% chance to inflict 9 to 14 Fire damage to all enemies within 3 yards.]
If so, it would be the number one enchant for 1hand SoR Ret with a super fast weapon as it is a flat 15% proc rate like Shadow Oil.
And yet Baconn (the guy who wrote that) corrected his guide from back then with updated information:
However, you could gain charges from random NPCs by constantly sitting and standing up due to server lag: mob would try to attack you as your were sitting, so it’d be a forced crit. However, if you stood up just as you were getting hit, the server would see you as if you were standing and get a Reckoning charge.
You aren’t going to get through you know. They think it was fixed but the action was bugged until the main lined it in patch 2.3.
This is actually referring to effects that were just on hit not on crit. An example was the priest ability Shadowguard. Wasn’t too big of a deal but while leveling and pulling a mob while drinking would cause a 2 second delay until the next attack.
Damn this thread took a turn lol.
For whatever beefs you guys have with Theoloras there were hundreds of bugs in Vanilla that caused all sorts of issues for all of the classes. The beauty of Vanilla is that you can mold your toons to somehow work in almost every scenario, whether it is leveling, 5-mans, premade PvP, and end-game raiding. And there were and will be Rets in every facet of all of the content you engage in that will both infuriate and bewilder you. It is a wonderful class with a lot of potential.
I’m actually looking forward to getting polarity benefit on Thaddius and seeing what some Exorcisms can do in full BiS. I’ve never gotten the chance to do that even on private servers.
Hopefully with a lasting Vanilla and extended Naxxramas raiding, I might get to do that. I was always envious of Warlocks hitting 30k soul fire crits on that boss on Elysium. I had to heal those days so I never got to try lol.
That’s enrage though.
So enrage activating says nothing about whether they intended reckoning to activate.
most ret paladins pvp’d back then they were like the enhancement shaman no one wanted us for raids but when we got windfury with a decent 2hd weapon in pvp it was a beast and the most fun i had.
i did a lot of pvp back then on my old enhancement shaman it was so much fun to windfury people down.rets back then just pvp’d as well.
There’s no such thing as a Ret Paladin. You are just simly a Paladin that has put talent points into a mess of a tree and your guild is letting you hit stuff for a laugh because you likely have content on farm.
Don’t kid yourselves, you arent “off healing” with your pitiful mana pool thanks to having to gear like a Warrior just to stay above hunter pets on dps, and the other holy paladins have all the blessings/auras/utility covered.
Your enjoyment of playing a role that the class simply wasn’t designed to do is going to come at the expense of others. By all means if you can find people who are down it with more power to you i guess.
