It does in LK classic. Very common technique. Back then Ret’s also had to cover their buffs… Certain classes def had a higher skill cap.

give GG or TL the same ret hunter comp and they’d still lose to Gordy/C9 or LG.

They chose to play a Ret… a class no one their team plays or has ever played… into a known “counter”(Mage/Lock) and 4-0’d them in the AWC championship because the strength of the class.

You can’t have better proof of a specs power than that. Literally… Better proof doesn’t exist… Even with a gold medal in mental gymnastics you can’t turn that situation around where Ret isn’t absurd.

In any case, I have no idea why people are even talking about anything balance wise for s1 at this point. The game is about to change completely with the changes that are coming out in a week.

It’s just funny how the rhetoric has changed from “Ret isn’t OP” to “Might as well wait till S2”.

Then it will be “Wait until everyone gets their tier set then ret will be balanced again…”

Then “Wait for full gear… Ret doesn’t scale as well”

Then “Wait for S3”

The season started 5 months ago. 10.0.7 launched 1 month ago. Ret was nerfed 4 times in that time frame. Whether it was enough or not, the point is that people are acting like blizz took no action.

In one week, the season is changing and with it comes a pretty significant amount of tuning changes to every class. It is a guarantee that they will not be making anymore S1 changes at this point.

What people are saying and have been saying since 10.0.7 and after each nerf is that the actions weren’t enough.

And the reason these discussions go on so long is because beyond all of the different forms of evidence everyone produces in the form of verifiable statistics about the OP numbers of ret in both win percentage, recent games played, highest ratings achieved, AWC victories against “counters”… there is still an Army of Rets (only Rets) that think their class is perfectly balanced.

The discussion wound end in a couple of posts if the Ret’s were like “Yea 10.0.7 was a mess, Ret’s messed up the meta, comp diversity is gone.”

Problem is, Ret was so broken that people who have been lifetime 1600 CR abused it to get 2400+. This went on for a significant amount of time when it should have been hotfixed day one.

Haven’t ever seen a spec create so much hatred, fear, and just plain make an exodus.
I haven’t queued except 1-2 shuffles since 10.0.7 dropped, and I will stay doing random BGs until ret is completely deleted back to what it was.
I used to not want them to be bad, but after seeing what the ret community is like PRE NERFS… yeah no. Yall can get removed lmfao

Tons of content creators straight up quit queueing especially shuffle too, tons of high ranked players just noped out and quit for the rest of the season and haven’t come back.

So not a direct reply to anyone or anything, but there is truth between both sides of the arguments here. Ret should NEVER have gotten a mid-season rework. It broke the entire ladder and ruined the entire season for people who didnt reroll or play with a ret reroll.

There has literally never been a spec this oppressive in the history of the game and even after four rounds of significant nerfs, it still reigns supreme.

However, the season ends in like 5 days and pvp as we know it has so many significant changes, it’s too hard to know what will/wont be strong. It is a bad idea to make new changes now before we see what tbe new arena changes (and inevitable pve tuning) do to classes.

We all had no idea this underbelly of toxicity was living among us.

Maybe the Ret community can to be the new world ending main antagonist of the next WoW Expansion. It would actually be appropriate because they are literally ending the World of Warcraft (PvP scene).

The boss could 1 shot your tank then cast spells like “Gaslight!” or “Git gud”

The reason might also be that ret is losing a bunch of damage when tier sets change and the nerf to crit so if they nerf them to the ground like everyone seems to want then when s2 drops they will have to buff ret and you don’t want that neither does about half of wow pvp player base. Just calm down and wait a week and see just how things roll out.
