This season had a host of other issues but ret was 100% the final nail in the coffin. Broken levels of class imbalance that should have been hotfixed on day 1 went weeks and weeks.
Gold standard example for terrible game balancing, killing a pvp season, and decimating trust in your subscribers.

I think having some amounts of complaining for balance against some specs is a sign that it’s designed well and actually balanced.
There’s ways people who will struggle against certain specs and blame class balance for their short comings instead of personal skill
If no one complains about your spec then chances are it’s undertuned.
Ret threads have drastically decreased with a few here and there, like arms , bm, demo, etc. So ret is officially balanced!
Call out for buffs for underperforming specs instead!

Ret received hotfixes the week 10.7 went live and has received more nerfs almost every week so far.
WOTLK DK and MOP season 1 BM hunter says hello. There have been way more egregious examples of bad game balancing. And those ones lasted way longer than Ret’s reign did.
If anything, Blizzard has earned my trust with ret. Sure, on release it was OP but Blizzard quickly adjusted it whereas in the past, like the previous examples I already gave you, it could take months to see any real changes.

I’ve never actually in 15 years quit the game due to a spec. I’ve quit for normal reasons like wanting to touch grass for a while. But ret for me officially took that virginity. I came back after the second set of nerfs and had like 6 ret games in a row and was just like, “nope ill be back when rets deleted” Genuinely have never felt that way in the past. I hate when blizz overnerfs stuff as much as overbuffs; but I actually just have ret 1 shot ptsd and just really dont want to see them. Its actually just not fun anymore x’D. To me that is :). Ill see yall in 10.1 probably assuming its not all rets still. Ill take the all ferals or w.e
