resto shaman has utility. that is 9 times out of 10 what it’s bringing. Often it is fairly middle of the pack as far as actual healing. it just has all the other shinies that then reduce the healing burden in a number of ways.
Resto shaman is shining now because the utility matches up with the needs of current M+ their actual healing isn’t any better and if the utilities become less “required” they will fall away to where they always are serviceable but meh healers.
Yep … pretty much poison cleansing totem is shining right now. There were almost no poison mobs in DF, so no one even knew resto had that totem lol.
Honestly, people that make these posts don’t care about this logic. They want whatever their class/spec is to be the best.
When I’ve formed groups, I’ve taken any healer that is geared enough and shown they can do the dungeon - I don’t sit and wait for a resto shaman. Other healers are getting invited to stuff.
Nerfs are coming . I hope they downright remove the 10% HP from downpour , remove the ability to have 3 out of 4 dispel schools or increase the poison cleansing totem to 2-3 mins ( remember what happened to priest MD?)
Healer shaman interrupt to be increased to 24 cd in pve only
Shaman throughput should NOT be touched however i think its in a great spot and i dont wish the classic blizzard way of destroying a class by nerfing its throughput.
Dungeon design wont go away but shaman has to be reigned in some way

Lol, during DF Shamans were straight booty, it’s nice that care went into this class and the hero talents. I can actually breeze through heroics now when it used to be not so fun. Not that I cared about the difficulty, Shamans are the most fun healers to play bar none.
How about they just buff other healing specs? Always gotta hate first, always gotta nerf first before thinking of a solution that benefits all healers.

I guess in a sense and depending on your expectation it can be true that there being a meta healer “ruins the game” for someone who wants to play a different one… The thing is, that’s unavoidable, nerf X and then Y becomes meta and it’s the same all over again…
I think the best we can ask is that the non-meta ones also feel strong and are capable of clearing 99% of the content without feeling like a decrement or trolling… And I believe that’s where we are now, yes Shaman is strong but it’s not oppresively strong that playing anything else feels bad.
Sure, the pug world often gets blinded by the meta, so playing a non-meta spec defintely takes more work to get into groups but it’s not impossible… The best solution if you want to pug is running your own key I know people hate to hear it but IT IS the best solution… Aside from that the other way is to build a network of people to do M+ with.
I was actually saying this isn’t an issue, especially for tanks and healers. Like I said, I don’t sit and wait for a shaman. The only healer I typically don’t like (trust) is disc priest - it’s perfectly viable for at least +10s, it’s just hard to find people that pilot it well.
The biggest factor for pugs is raider.io over meta - and personal experience with some classes that is harder for the community to play well, such as mine with disc priest. If someone has cleared the dungeon I want to clear, good io, and appropriate ilvl, I’ll invite regardless of meta.
I’ve actually tabled keys for now cause I didn’t get a chance to rush io the first week and I’m not part of the guild key group, so now it just pains me to sit in queue for an hour trying to get into “good” groups that won’t invite cause my io is low even though havoc is solid for keys. Now I get keys where the tanks pull 3 mobs at a time where you’ll never time it like that lol (just one of my last runs where I decided pugging low io is terrible).

Im not saying other healers cant do content. I am playing disc at the moment and believe it or not , disc has much more hps than shaman in a 5 man . Pres evoker also has more hps than rshaman and more damage for sure.
Issue isnt throughput to put in plainly. I would say shaman has good throughput but not better than disc or pres.
What shaman has is such an overloaded utility kit, that its a lockpick. It happened due to cc changes/dungeon design and aug again being meta( for example aug meta means no pres or dev will be brought)
A great solution would be to give other healers more utility if they need or buff em if they need. But that would require blizzard to work on 6 other specs instead of 1. Classic blizzard wont do anything… And when season 2 arrives shaman will be obliterated from the world

Healing M+ as resto shaman is like being in a different universe compared to an rdruid. Especially this week.
sadly at current Resto druid does in fact suck. so playing one of the better performing healers is going to feel much better. Rdruid definitely needs all the love the can give it at current.
All the things Resto shaman brings that make it OP are nothing new to this expac. We had Poison Clense, Ranged Interrupt, Lust, aoe stun, and a knockup going all the way back to BFA M+.
Blizz just designed this season to be extremely punishing for a lack of dispells, interrupts and crowd control. Way more so then other seasons.
Let us have our time in the sun. 11.1 will reset a new META, then 11.2 another new one and so on. People who dont get this is only gonna last a couple months and want major nerfs instead of properly balancing the rest of the classes don’t make the game better for anyone. How does nerfing resto shaman help your gameplay?
