Any semblance of conversation or even trading items in trade chat and/or general chat.
It’s been replaced by GDKP spam, it makes me weep.
I’ll go through SW, just from the tram to the Valley of Heroes, and I’ll see a wall of “Buy your gear here, LF buyers and carries, but post your logs though”. Ugh.

Oddly enough…trade chat is where people are supposed to sell services. It may not be a liked by all service, but a service none the less.
If missing this there is retail. Retail trade chat is where i go when I feel I have too many brain cells. They see the chat, and decide death is better. And I’d agree with them.

friend use this macro aand it will block any sentence with GDKP until you reload / change zones
/script a=ChatFrame1.AddMessage ChatFrame1.AddMessage=function(s, m, ...) if string.find(string.lower(m),"gdkp") then return end return a(s,m,...) end

Absolutely not GDKP spam belongs in LFG not trade.
Last time LFG was spammed to death it was by boosters in TBC.
Blizzard *removed boosting because of it (and RMT).
*Removed is a loose term.
Would love to see the same consequences for the same actions.
GDKP is absolutely a service and should only be in Trade.
An RMT Gold Laundering Service.

There’s nothing wrong with GDKPs as long as they stay out of trade chat.
Honestly if a GDKP is spamming in trade chat it’s a little sus. GDKPs set up on discord tend to be much less likely to be a scam

I agree, keep it out of LFG chat.
When laundering millions of purchased gold everyday, you don’t want to talk about it using the game client.
I wouldn’t know, if you’re in to buying gold that’s fine for you i guess, and finer for me since your “laundering” is putting gold in my hands that i didn’t spend irl money to attain
Isn’t the rule that they have to stay in trade chat cause it’s considered selling?
There was something stupid along these lines going on for classic anyway.
not that i’m aware of since they’re clearly looking for a group regardless of what the loot distribution method is.
If you can find definitive answer from blizzard that specifically addresses GDKPs I’ll happily shift the blame to blizzard instead.
Oh my bad, that was for boosting, that was banned from LFG and had to be in trade chat.
These carried over to Wrath.
It’s fairly easy to argue that a GDKP is a boost, selling for gold or a carry though so it probably should just be in trade chat if you follow these rules.
They can make a channel exclusively for those. Everyone can be happy.
In the most recent interview with the devs on Saturday August 19th, 2023.
Thankfully they have taken this stance, and many of us can rejoice that the raid option will stay available to us. My regular gdkp raid is basically like another guild and I would hate to see it go.
GDKP Is like a double edged sword.
It’s undeniably a social system and encourages you to branch out and interact with new people and that’s something we feel good about.
There is also a negative aspect of it which kind of drives some unsavory parts of the games underbelly.
It’s one of those things that I think we never want to say that it’s strictly not allowed. Not only that, we don’t think that it would be enforcable anyway. All it would do is drive it into discords and into other activities.
On one hand we appreciate that it’s another way that people play together/another thing that brings people together. On the other it does have it’s drawbacks and that’s just games/social features in general.

Convos happen in discord channels now. Who even talks in trade or general chat except the weirdo schizos at 4am?

I mean you prob want to either monday or tuesday raid as tuesday has alot of people and monday when people can’t discriminate.
I am forever grateful my Classic guild is immune to this cancer.
It’s not considered selling because an actual GDKP is not the same as a “Carry Run” that are far more prevalent in retail.
Different from a carry service is that the geared “carry” characters can still buy anything they want, they aren’t obligated to let the buyers have it just because they’re the respective roles.
Most GDKPs still need the buyers to perform at least in some limited capacity to kill the boss. Carry runs just have them die at the beginning of a fight.
And finally GDKPs still include buyers in the split at the end which is one of the biggest distinguishing differences and if they don’t then it’s just a carry service outright. This was pretty common at the end of TBC Classic and during Wrath Classic Prepatch.
Not even remotely. You’re not “selling the gold” you’re distributing it among the raiders… and you’re not getting carried since you’re actively participating in the raid.

If you have to argue, reach, or rationalize for something in order to place it in this box, it probably doesn’t belong there.
Apparently, this sort of depends:
