Respectfully, updated models in TBC

I’m not good with words but…
What would really happen if models, spell effects, and terrain from retail? I heard arguments from classic that it would affect PVP. Something about seeing an enemy player better with little or no graphics.
I don’t buy it. There’s an addon that lets you know when a flagged player is nearby.
The argument I mostly agree with is that it wasn’t a part of classic or classic tbc. This is true. I agree. TBC classic is not a remaster its a remake.
Having updated graphics while something that wasn’t a part of still would make a tremendous leap in having players look good in their Outlands clown suits.
The time the art team has put into the new characterizations is amazing. I also remember when the blood elf models took FOREVER to get out.
I’m not a huge advocate for spell animations. Since I’ve seen the new models without the new ones. If its easier to implement them as is in retail by all means. They’re cool.
Totems! Totems! Totems! Draenei get the new hotness! We have race specific totems! And those are equally amazing. (I’m a little biased towards the troll totems).

Even if we don’t have an exact date when this will come out it feels like this is something that wont happen at launch. And less than a year to get that all together, to me, is asking a lot And saying that something shouldn’t be implemented because its not how it was in 2008 is just silly.

At least give us a button to toggle!
Blizzard, you’re working hard. With all the fine tuning that you’re giving us for TBC why not a fresh coat of paint?

We all know several pirate servers, few players used a modified mpq file with new models.

We all know as well that it could be easily achieved with an option as well, to either use new models or classic models.

Cosmetic change that doesn’t affect anything, but having the new models could be fun as well.

What you said. I’d LOVE an option to switch between the new and old models, just like you could during Warlords, but that sadly went away when Legion was released. Idec about spell effects tbh. At least let us have the new models, and maybe a way to change your appearance once TBC drops and you toggle over to the WoD models (without introducing the Barber Shop early). Surely it wouldn’t hurt to let us have the Shadowlands customization options ;). Although it kind of would be more fitting if all this was implemented in Wrath Classic when the Barber Shop was introduced, I certainly won’t complain if it is implemented a tad earlier.

People would probably cry tears of grief if there were new models without the editing option. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Agreed…if the intent of playing these older versions of the games are about the game play, then what’s wrong with leveraging new art assets?

Call me petty but…as a horde player…I always wanted to play a druid but couldn’t get over how the old Tauren bear & cat form looked. The new form models are awesome. How does it hurt the game, or the community, if people have the option to see whichever models they want?

The argument I heard against this during Classic was that the dev work required for this would take them away from the more important & core parts from the game…and that they were likely running on a skeleton crew as it was.

So long as this wouldn’t delay the release of the game, or introduce competitive performance advantages, I’d be in favor having the option to use new art assets.

I was going to say that that’s subjective, but looking more closely, the time is perhaps not subjective.

However, the new models are ugly and should stay in the awful game they’re in.

Always love these responses…

You can both like new art assets and think the current form of “retail” is garbage.

i like you, i take back what i said.

Only if there is a toggle. The new undead male casting animations suck.

I prefer the old models/animations mostly.

True. Maybe they should just open up the barber shops a little early.

I am for no gameplay changes. But graphic changes are ok to do. That doesn’t effect the gameplay. It Enhances it.

There would have to be a toggle. No one should be stuck with models/animations they don’t like. It kind of ticked me off that they took away the toggle in Legion. It was nice being able to see what the new gear looked like on the old models. I will agree some facial expressions and animations are a little over-the-top, and a lot of weapon and shield attachment points result in clipping issues, which kind of annoys me. Far from perfect for sure, but overall I think they’re great. More options are good for everybody

As long as you can toggle between them, what’s the problem?

i understand people maybe dont like certain animations of the new characters, but come on, how can you not want better graphics in the game? the characters look soooo much better. Also, the game world. i would love to see the look of outlands updated to 2021 art capabilities.
