Does the formula for resilience change when WoTLK comes out? Is there another pvp stat? It’s been so long I can’t remember how it works.
I think it does change some, I know there was at least one patch where it was super bugged and if you stacked it you would become near indestructible.
In wrath resilience now also adds all damage reduction, on top of crit reduction. No new pvp stat added.
Do they add “from players” on the resil tooltip? Or is pvp gear the way to go in pve?
Haven’t touched wrath other than using wrong dalaran port in years.
what changes is the damage reduced by being crit, also the reduced dot damage is turned into reduced all damage and doubled. caps were slightly increased as well over the course of wotlk leading to 3.3.5
basically if you are resil capped your stats would look like this:
15% reduced chance to be crit
33% reduced damage from crits
30% reduced damage from players
vs TBC
12.5% reduced chance to be crit/dot damage
25% reduced crit dmg/mana drains
It is changed. Firstly the amount needed to cap is GREATLY increased so it can no longer be easily reached like it is crusade. Next, some of the protection ONLY applies to players, which is a nerf vs mobs. In crusade, 100% of it affects mobs.
That was cata prepatch. And rogues got recouperate or whatever it was called. Legit unkillable
I did some research and found the numbers:
1% of Resilience will reduce the chance to be critically hit by 1%, reduce the damage taken from crits by 2.2% (improved from 2% in Patch 3.0.3), reduce the damage done by DoTs by 1%, and reduce the amount drained by mana draining effects by 1%.
so basically the same as now, except a slight buff on the damage mitigated on crits (2%-2.2%)?
That sounds about right, I remember re gemming my pvp gear for resilience and doing battlegrounds. I literally spent a whole eye of the storm just running from melee and they could not do enough damage to kill me between healthstones and death coil cd lol.
[Patch 3.0.3] The damage reduction component of resilience has been increased from 2 times the critical strike chance reduction to 2.2 times the critical strike chance reduction. In addition, the maximum damage reduction to a critical strike from resilience has been increased from 30% to 33%.
[Patch 3.2.0] No longer reduces the amount of damage done by damage-over-time spells, but instead reduces the amount of all damage done by players by the same proportion. In addition, the amount of resilience needed to reduce critical strike chance, critical strike damage and overall damage has been increased by 15%.
Hotfix (2010-01-20): Resilience damage reduction doubled
this makes the new caps
15% reduced chance to be crit
33% reduced damage from crits
30% reduced dmg from players
1% resil in wotlk I believe is just under 100 rating at level 80, meaning the cap is somewhere in the 1400’s I don’t remember the exact numbers. it’s like 98 or 99 or something per 1% reduced chance to be crit at 80. everything revolves around the reduced chance to be crit
there we go thanks for the info
