So, I am having a mission table glitch in The Great Seal that seems to be happening only to me. Blizzard wants me to do the following:
Completely exit World of Warcraft.
Uninstall any addon managers to make sure they don’t re-add your removed addons.
In the Blizzard Battlenet desktop application, click Options and select Show in Explorer (Windows®) or Reveal in Finder (Mac®).
Open the World of Warcraft® folder.
Open the retail folder.
Rename the Cache, Interface, and WTF folders to CacheOld, InterfaceOld, and WTFOld.
Re-launch World of Warcraft so the changes can take effect.
If this does in fact fix my issue, how do I ensure that my add-ons, toolbar, existing UI changes, etc are still part of the game and dont get erased and I have to start from scratch?
You can go back to your old UI just by deleting the new versions of the cache, interface, and wtf folder that get created and then renaming the original folders back to cache, interface, and wtf.
Of course, if resetting the interface solved the problem, then just going back to your old UI will likely cause the problem to resurface. You’ll either have to start from scratch or do some troubleshooting.
If the UI reset solves the problem, you can reinstall your addons (to clear out any corruption there) and then see if things are still working. If they aren’t, then you’ll get to turn addons off to see what might be causing the issue. If it works, then you can try reverting to your old WTF (which has all the addon settings) and see if things still work.
Thanks for the feedback. I still had the UI issue with the mission table when I disabled all my addons. So, thats when Blizzard suggested to re-do all the folders. So, hopefully I can just copy my addon folder back over and most of the game should be ok.
These are the folders that contain your addons and settings. Cache you can delete entirely, there’s no reason to keep a copy of it.
Interface contains the Addon files
WTF contains Addon and Game settings. Addon settings are specifically stored in the various SavedVariables subfolders.
