Blizz,
I know this may not change anything, but I still wanted to share my situation in hopes that it can at least be acknowledged — and maybe even reconsidered.
Back on July 4th, 2018, I completed the Mage Tower challenge for Havoc Demon Hunter and unlocked the artifact appearance tied to it. Like many players do over the years, I eventually re-rolled and cleaned up old characters, and I unfortunately deleted the Demon Hunter who originally completed the challenge — not realizing that the character was the one tied to the unlock. Over time, that character was permanently purged and cannot be restored through the usual services.
Despite this, the appearance still shows up in my transmog collection, I have the “A Challenging Look” achievement, and the character I’m posting from is currently using the transmog appearance in-game — clear proof that I completed the challenge when it was available. However, because the original character is gone, I’ve permanently lost access to the other color variations. I’ve opened multiple tickets over the years, but the responses have been consistently the same: nothing can be done.
I’ve been playing and supporting World of Warcraft since vanilla, for over 20 years now (at least wotlk on this particular account), and this is honestly the only thing that has ever truly disheartened me about the game. One honest mistake on my part — deleting a character without remembering its significance — has cost me a piece of progress that felt incredibly meaningful. It may sound small, but it has caused me a surprising amount of frustration and regret to this day.
I understand Blizzard wants to protect the prestige of these appearances — and I completely support that. I’m not asking for anything I didn’t earn. I simply want the progress I did make to be preserved/protected.
If there is any way to associate the progress from the deleted character with my account, or to unlock the recolors on a current Demon Hunter who can equip the appearance, it would mean a great deal to me. Even if that’s not currently possible, I hope this situation might at least be considered for future policy review.
Thanks,
