No LFG for TBC !!
I’m confused. I said I would welcome a group finder. Sounds like we are making the same argument.
My issues with the LFD tool is the cross server and automated grouping. I wouldn’t want that.
I might have replied to the wrong person >_< My bad if that was the case.
I scrolled up and looked again. I was using your statement as an example as to why the LFG tool is good.
I know this is a tough concept to grasp. But consider the interruption of an interface that is only found in retail wow, now present in TBC. For what reason? Convenience.
The whole purpose of these classic games is to relive the experience, in it’s truest form. Adding in QoL features for the sake of convenience is lazy. If you want ease, go play retail.
While I agree there could be a marginal difference in finding groups, the point is to keep the experience as authentic as possible… by not adding in retail features
My argument is about preserving the authenticity of the game. Your argument is about making your life easier. Which one is more selfish?
Bro…Everyone is running around in Tier or better in classic too.
Not the point of this post… but I’ll bite.
What feels better? Obtaining an item like Gressil or Scepter of the Fallen God, or generic 1h crit/mastery mace #3?
Mastery? Bro I think u dropped some of ur retail in the classic thread. Clean up on aisle 1.
I had made a request for this, actually, and it seems like it was already in BC, according to these Posters, here: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/somechanges-huh/877410
Why? The Player interaction is still there.
The LFG Tool should NOT be confused with LFD. To help put your mind at ease, lemme give you a Video Link (it’s about fixing Drums, but there’s actually more, in that video, and it actually mentions LFD): https://www.wowhead.com/news=321063/leatherworking-drums-benefits-likely-changed-in-burning-crusade-classic
IDK about you, but it doesn’t sound like they’re going to be making the LFG system into LFD but just making it more “modernized” instead of how it was. It isn’t going to be some LFD, though.
That’s my point. When you get an upgrade in retail, it’s a generic item with 4-8 variations, similar stats, etc. Whereas you get an item in Classic, it’s generally more impactful and feels better
Good lord people…
This is the tool that was in TBC, it’s already coming as it was a part of the game.

They just want to update it to the modern UI

Someone will make an addon to do this anyway if blizzard doesn’t
What they are not talking about adding is the dungeon finder that was added in wrath

Is not coming to TBC
I understand the difference between Group Finder and LFD. However, Group Finder is a much less interactive form of group advertisement. While running around, whispering people, spamming /2 or /LFG searching for a group is more tedious, it fosters MORE player interaction than posting a group and waiting. Hands down. More player interaction happens while spamming chat channels than posted a group advert.
Not to mention the amount of gold selling/dungeon/raid boost advertisements for REAL MONEY that happen in the retail version of Group Finder. It’s completely unmanageable
I disagree with that because I still have to interact with the players, like “hey, want to group? I have this many in my group, want to combine forces?”
As if this doesn’t clog up the LFG Chat, either? Not to mention there’s quite a bit that don’t even sit in the LFG Chat because of the chatter. At least with the LFG Tool it’ll inspire more players to look around without being bothered by spam in the Chat, all of the time. They can just glance and go.
And in the modern age now, people are just going to use the group finder tool that will be there regardless anyway, may as well get a better looking one.
Some addon maker will make it that way anyway.
I like the idea of the LFG Tool. Because IK there’s quite a bit of people that have a hard time leading, so they’d rather just list themselves and continue just doing their thing, until somebody else comes along to actually lead. It would make my job easier as “the leader” ('cause I’m always leading LOL) to sift through a list and figure out who wants to do what. I’m still going to interact with them.
I just find the pushback weird…
It’s like when someone created a LFG tool for classic, people said “but you need to go back to cities, it wouldn’t be in the spirit of the game to find groups anywhere!” like… brah, LFG channel was server wide.
Now they forget this tool ALREADY exists in TBC, smh.
Me too.
Hah, I find more recruits out in the world than in the cities
It is true however (like I said) not everyone sat in it. When I get recruits out in the world it’s because I recruited out in that Zone. I get WAY more hits out in the world, than I do in the Cities and/or LFG Chats.
I started in BC, but I was new, naive and ignorant LOL So, I didn’t remember it, but I do remember advertising in Cities
LFG tool was a TBC feature. That isn’t a hard concept to grasp. Fine tuning it so it is effective for group forming still falls within the classic experience. The classic experience is not time travel which is also not a hard concept to grasp. See I can be condescending too except I did a far better job of it while also completing invalidating your argument.
You didn’t though. I’ve acknowledged Group Finder was a thing in TBC. I’ve played the game for 16 years… I remember it. My argument is of personal opinion. You have not swayed my opinion, so argument is still valid.
At the end of the day, it’s more about leaving features alone and not tampering with them - keeping the experience as authentic as possible. The Group Finder interface from TBC is rudimentary (as I mentioned in my OP), however it gets the job done.
I think it still is as authentic as possible and can’t wait to use it
