Reputation Macro Exploit. Why is this accepted?

  1. Why are people so rep competitive

  2. I don’t understand, if you use a rep token 1 by 1 or all at once, wouldn’t it be the same amount of rep gained just all at once vs over a long duration?

  3. Why is rep still in this game? It’s a boring grind, and I know I can’t be bothered to care about it.

It doesn’t make sense, and why the forum is there in the first place.

THe macro acted like they combined all their token rep into a gigantic one and that amount got the additional 100% rep bonus instead of 1 token which would go over Renown 10 and then grant normal rep.

So if you have a character renown 10, your other characters get double rep below renown 10.

So the ‘tech’ is to level up an alt to 10, then do everything (including the basic campaign) on your main so all the rep is doubled.

But that double rep shuts off when your new character hits 10, themselves. If you can fire all the “use to gain rep” inventory items at once, you get the double rep without the 10-renown cutoff kicking in.

(However, I’m really not seeing how this is possible. But of course I haven’t tried myself, so who knows.)

Are you sure this even works? It seems pretty far-fetched to me. Use-to-gain-rep tokens have a cast time and have to be done 1-by-1. They also have a shared cooldown.

Is there any evidence this works, apart from “some guy made a post on the forums”?

Not saying it’s impossible, just not seeing any proof.

That sounds like a clever use of game mechanics.

The main thing is, that is all speculation and forgets the fact that macros have an order of operations to them. If you click one rep token there’s a delay and you cannot click another, macros do not bypass that and you can see it in action if you try putting two abilities on the gcd in the same macro. One will get triggered and then you’ll get the error message that you can’t perform the following action.

The only “real” renown exploit was that faction changing a character reset campaign progress, allowing for infinite renown tokens based on the size of your wallet. May or may not be fixed yet.

Really. I hadn’t heard about that.

That’s silly.

Because who cares if someone else unlocks bling before you do?

Exploit early and often is a valid strategy because Blizzard won’t do anything about it.

The only time they moved to do anything was when M+ titles were on the line for that season people were getting a 5% stat buff from a quest.

Silly, but it makes sense considering how Quest tags love to reset when doing a faction change.

Why would they use this exploit on casual content that has no effect on their progression when the time comes? Like, how can you be 100% certain when they’d literally benefit more from doing Dreamsurges to get a few 450 iLvl T2s?

Given how many mandatory grinds these guys go through, I just can’t see them even bothering farming the rep. It’s not going to help them at all. Like not even in that 0.001% scenario - it’s just absolutely meaningless.

I’m sure some streamers did it anyway because why not. I’m personally saving all my tokens so that I can spend them one per week so that I don’t have to dredge through those trees to get my mandatory weekly done.

That people are defending this is pretty funny. No pride of any kind… Cheat hard, cheat often.

Boy! Your momma’s must be proud of you!

Then if there is legit case of Renown 20, which i REALLY doubt, then can you tell me how it would be achievable?

There was one instance where someone mentioned they farmed 5 thousand (5000) seed) which at 5 rep each would give 25000 rep(which is 10 renown) and with all the rep token(if used in a non exploitive way) + the quest rep awards(non tokens one)… AT the most if there is some wild people who would actually farm more seeds)(assumning that each uncommon/rare seed planted give 5 rep(after the first 5)) but that be even more grind than previously mentioned.

I am not defending exploits, my position in this is “Don’t believe everything you hear on the internet.” The original post was speculating how people did it without any proofs of it, let alone applying a nonsensical theory, which, by how rep tokens, macros, and the renown boost from renown 10 work, wouldn’t be possible.

Beats me. I have a friend who hit Renown 15 last night because he’s been no-lifing 20 rep at a time from seeds.

If we’re this worried about rep, time to get rid of that Human Diplomacy racial, that’s for damn sure.

Then how they achieved Renown 20? Farmed seed to R9 24xx/2500 then use every token they have and farm the rest as seeds?

This was the way before they nerfed the Seed farm. Note, only one campaign token would have the modifier from Renown 10 (Giving 5499 rep when also factoring in buffs)

If this is about the trick where you get one character to renown 10 and save all your rep tokens on the other character until renown 9.9999 and then use them as fast as possible, you were able to do that with the Niffen rep also. That’s how I got renown 20 two weeks into 10.1.

I was planning to do it again with the new rep so I hope the butthurt generated over this doesn’t get Blizz to fix it

So if they farmed seeds enough to get the remaining 7375 rep (which 5 rep a seed) would give 1475 seeds total to achieve the 50000 rep.

is it even possible to farm that amount of seed on Day 1???

Well dang. I thought i was doin good by getting to renown 15 on the first day by farming seeds like a mad man. Never knew you could macro the tokens
