The proper way to respond to this situation is something called the Ignore function, it literally blocks all messages from this person.
Not only does /ignore completely remove that toxicity from the game for you, but it also allows you to pick and choose what type of information gets sent to your chat box to you can further isolate yourself to only receive messages from people who you like
Instead of the more mature approach, we have people who actively report people instead of ignoring them which means that you are allowing yourself to engage with the thing that you consider toxic and the only solution in your mind is to remove this guy off the platform instead of being the bigger person and moving on.
You’re just as toxic as the other guy, positive toxicity is a very real thing and people encouraging this double standard behavior is how we get a very police state type community.
It’s gotten so bad that if you overtly say something racist in chat you will face easily a 2 - 4 week chat mute or even a suspension but if you also call someone trash at their class you will face the same exact punishment because their automated system can’t tell the difference between the two things.
TL;DR Please grow up and stop abusing the report function because your feelings got hurt, save your reports for actual toxicity.
Even negative feedback has truth in it, if you choose ignore everything negative in life then you’re probably deserving of people calling you trash in this hypothetical scenario.
You don’t grow as a person if you only accept compliments.
And there lies the problem, you want to police how people talk. You would want that person to say anything but your trash but that’s just how they feel about you, you can ignore it but sitting there and reporting them is just as toxic
No, you said it’s constructive, but it’s not. If people have actual constructive feedback for me, sure, fire away. However, there’s no need for toxicity or negative feedback. That doesn’t help anyone.
If someone calls you trash, what’s your first response? To ask them how to improve right? That’s what i’ve been saying.
The people that don’t even have a convo or want context but spam report are the problem, there’s truth behind every feedback and they don’t even want to find out.
Or if someone’s being a jerk, purely to be a jerk, you just report them, they get muted, and they either:
A) Learn to be less toxic in their interactions with people
or
B) Get angry they got muted for being toxic, and get even more toxic, resultings in them getting punished more until they either learn, or get banned.
Based on your replies, I’m going to hazard to guess that you have no idea what constructive critism actually is.
No, with terribad players like this their response is usually to argue and then act like you’re the bad guy for pointing out how trash they are.
Honestly there’s no winning with these people. If you’re a tank or friends with the tank, literally just kick them out of your group, it’ll save you the headache. If they’re the tank, unfortunately they have the power in this situation and you just have to deal with it until you get what you want and let them know they’re trash after.
I mean I know your response is probably just to ignore them and spam report, it is what it is.
Not everyone lived a full life, some are sheltered and live in echo chambers
Nah I do, but my definition of constructive is clearly not the same as everyone else I guess.
If someone call me trash I figure out why, if i’m doing something bad i’ll learn but i’m not bout to have a full mental breakdown like some other posters here.
Yeah dude accuse other people of things while clutching your pearls and reporting everyone for calling you trash, sounds like your average 2022 WoW player tbh.
