Reporting Name Violation

About a month ago, I came across a character that has a name that I feel is in violation of the naming policy. I reported the name, added my reasoning to the report box and moved on. Then a week later, I saw the name again, so I added them to my friends list and reported the name. I have been reporting this character for the past month, at least once a week and their name hasn’t been changed.

If I could get some insight on whether I should keep reporting this name or not. I believe they did get a forced name change, because on certain occasions when I log in, I get a system message saying “Name-Server does not exist”, but they still appear in my friends list with the name I reported.

You only really need to report a name once, as it only counts once per account.

The name on your friend’s list only changes when they have logged in with a new name. If they were flagged for a rename but haven’t logged in, your list isn’t going to change.

That is the issue Vrak, I have been reporting them at least once I week when I see them come online and with the same name.

Personally, I feel that the name is in violation, as it is the name of a very violent international gang in Latin America.

All u can do is report and let the GMS handle it unfortunately players think theres nothing wrong and can and will change it back you just gota let the system run its course.

Yeah, you are right, that is all that can be done and hopefully they get the name changed.

I guess I made this thread mostly to get reassurance that I am doing the right thing and not abusing the system.

Welcome to the game.

Lots of questionable decisions get made about what is and isn’t proper both in game, such as names, or even on the forums.

For what it matters I think you are doing the right thing. Just wish that got rewarded more often instead of shamed and/or punished.

That can be a bit iffy. Names of groups or other organizations, etc… but I definitely understand the concern.

You are fine. You can’t really abuse the reporting system since your reports only count as one.

Does it still only count as one report if they change the name back to the thing that it was originally?

It’s kind of a bummer that you can’t really “appeal” a report to get it in front of fresh eyes if this is how it works, the naming rules for RP servers are frequently misunderstood and I’ve been waging a small war against all of the casino rollers outside the Stormwind bank using non-RP character names, pet names, guild names, roller announcement addons and TRP3 profiles to advertise gambling games for some time now.

No, that would be towards a new report because whatever review that your report helped create was already addressed and closed if that happens.

Admirable that your on a war reporting inappropriate names etc, just as long as your reporting the offensive names and NOT engaging with them in anyway then you’re ok, if you tell anyone else in any chat channels that they should report such and such then that can and will get you in hot water. I don’t want anyone getting in trouble that shouldn’t particularly when they are helping keep the game safe for everyone.

There’s always those folks that get their names reported, they have to change it, but they always think they’re so clever to just take out a letter but it still is inappropriate. Seems like the removed letter though is enough for them to avoid having it changed again.
