Reporting False Flags?

Hi there.

Just wanted to check if there’s a new or current way of reporting a post for being false flagged.

It seems like there is no direct link to the offending posts but was wondering even if you find it, how does one actually report it so you can’t flag your own posts or whatever.

Thank you!

Having a post flagged will have no effect unless the Forum Code of Conduct has been violated. If a post is moderated, then it did violate said rules. If it doesn’t violate the rules, then there is nothing for you to report as a false flag. If you feel that something was moderated in error, you can open a ticket asking for it to be looked at by someone else…until they tell you no more appeals will be heard.

I disagree.

I won’t go into the specifics however when you have a bunch of “buddies” abusing the system because they don’t want their in game antics to be “discovered” or whatever it merits a look since it’s a coordinated attack with no merits.

Nope. Once reported a moderator will determine if violates the rules or not.

Ok thanks. What about an ongoing harassment ticket? At this point the my own issue isn’t important it’s the fact that we have individuals as groups attempting to “police” the forums on their own by abusing the flag feature.

Are they contacting you in game and are you putting them on ignore?

They can only report, they cannot kick you off the forums not can they silence you. They ain’t moderators.

Also those that do abuse the flagging system do get into trouble.

It’s a double-edge sword. People can report anything they’d like, but if they do it enough it will cause eyebrows to raise and if a pattern of bad behavior is detected, they’re just as likely to be sanctioned.

And again, people can report and flag whatever they like. Each report is looked over by a real live person. If the post is breaking the rules, it’ll come down. If it’s not, then nothing will happen. A post may be ‘hidden’ by enough reports but it won’t be removed until a GM looks at it and makes their verdict.

Nope. But there should be a way to actually create some sort of action against behavior that is unwarranted by creating false flagging scenarios and having your buddies show up to “ensure” the posts get flagged.

I guess I am looking for some sort of solution/way to get this looked at.

Not really, if it gets out of hand, it will be locked or removed by the SFAs quite quickly.

I get that but my issue and desire at this point is not my posts or whatever blizzard decides to do with them. It’s the overall quality of the game/forums when you have the behavior I listed ongoing and I am sure I am not the only one experiencing it.

I do admit that the trolling on the discussion forums have been quite aggressive as of late. But I understand Blizzard is gonna deal with it at some point.

Unfortunately thats the system in place atm. Anyone can flag a post for any reason really. Theres no way to circumvent that.
The forum mods will likely be well aware of the big offenders but I’m not sure what else you want them to do. Blizz is reactive, that is, they wait on reports. And then take action. Just because you think a group of people are being unreasonable and flagging certain posts doesnt mean that they are not entitled to do that. Most of the time the only posts I ever see getting flagged are usually either not suitable for the forums or trolling in nature. I’m sure theres other topics that get caught up in it when a vast majority of people disagree with something, but thats a social issue.

And your point is? What does my post count have to do with anything. The SFAs don’t play that game here.

Technically speaking, those doing the reporting are creating their own trail of reports and those don’t go unnoticed. Let’s say someone uses a bunch of sock-puppet accounts to do a bunch of mass reporting, that is something that the moderation team automatically looks for.

There’s technically no need to have a reporting option for flags on a post.

Now, if the flagged post results in account actions, there’s a ticket option to appeal such actions. But all account actions are applied by the moderation team.

Thanks for the well thought out reply. As we are not allowed to discuss specifics on the forums, I am not really concerned about my actual sanctions since what I am going after here is coordinated “nonsense” flagging that pretty much doesn’t make any sense and wastes time/effort.

One would assume this would be a big deal since if you look at objectively it doesn’t just cause the posters anxiety but it probably chugs up the system with false reports.

Anyway I think I have found an avenue I appreciate everyone’s input very much!

Like others have said a post getting flagged is meaningless , Unless it breaks the code of conduct it means nothing and nothing would happen.

If the mods see the same account consistently flagging the same person and their are no violations then the person reporting will end up with the trouble. Anything from loosing their ability to flag posts to a forum suspension or ban.

Thanks for the insight though I 100% understand how the flagging system works.

Was more concerned with being proactive in reference to some fellers and bringing some well deserved “publicity” their way.

Anyway take care and have a great rest of today

The thing I notice is that you have no proof they are the ones flagging your posts. Someone claiming they did it isn’t proof. People lie online all the time. Naming a guild like the one you originally mentioned in your first post does not protect any player from account action.
