I’d like to report that at 2:05PM PST on February 14th, 2021 I was DDOSed by someone while running a BG; there are brief control-V pastes of me saying in chat that it’s going on. This happens on and off and I don’t know what to do. I feel annoyed that it keeps happening and I tried logged in like ten times but it just doesn’t stop until the BG is over and then it lets me select leave BG. I give full authorization to any relevant party at Blizzard to investigate this.
If I can’t report it here please tell me the steps I need to take to report this as I don’t know who did it but your system can probably see based off logs what was going on.
Thanks for the help. It’s really annoying and I just want to play the game with my friends without being targeted and attacked. If there are steps I can take to fix this issue please let me know.
First off, there’s absolutely no way for a random player in WoW to be able to DDOS another player. They simply don’t have access to your info in order to do so.
If you believe that another player did somehow access your IP address from an outside source (as they can’t get it from Blizz), then you could try reporting it to them or you can contact your ISP and report the attack directly to them.

I would like to add that servers have been experiencing random spikes of high “world” lag. Usually starting the afternoon. Leaving the BG would mean you go to a different instance server and it gets cleared.

Got it, thanks. Yeah I’ll ask my ISP to change my IP address to see if that helps. I’ve heard of it happening to streamers and while I ain’t anyone it’s something that does exist I guess. Appreciate the help Perl!

It is a lot more likely that you’re just experiencing latency for one reason or another than that someone is repeatedly targetting you with a ddos. like, way more likely.

Got it, my ISP looked at what was going on and decided to change my IP. If it continues happening though I have that now bookmarked and will make a tech support thread with a minmtr.

Do a complete ui reset and then try it with Addons disabled as a first trouble shooting step just in case something is trying to phone home.
