Replica Aegis of Aggramar Not Showing Up in my Wardrobe

I bought the “Replica Aegis of Aggramar” on my DK who had enough time badges to purchase the Aegis. Thinking because the item reads as cosmetic and according to Wowhead “Anything that reads “Cosmetic” on the item will unlock in the wardrobe across all of your characters.” While I cannot equip the shield it is a cosmetic item and because of that Cosmetic designation should be added to my wardrobe for all my characters. I also waited for the 2 hour sellback to expire and it still has not been added. Blizzard please make this item either immediately added to wardrobe upon purchase or like other replica items such as the: Replica Staff of Gul’dan, Replica Lion’s Fang, Replica Lion’s Heart, and Replica Blood Guard’s Cleaver Bound to Blizzard Account.

I tried opening an in-game ticket but it was not showing up in my active in-game tickets.

Is this a bug?

Unless I’m mistaken, a “Cosmetic” weapon/off-hand is treated no differently than regular gear when it comes to whether it’ll be added to the wardrobe, in that your class has to be able to equip it.

Wowhead only lists the Warrior, Pally and Shaman as being applicable for the item in question as well.

If a DK can’t equip a shield, then it makes sense that it wasn’t learned.

If you cannot equip a type of item, you are also unable to collect the appearance of that item, including from an item listed as Cosmetic.

The Shield is not natively available to you when you view the Timewalking vendor, you’d need to have selected “All” in order to see the shield. The shield is also Red and does not have the tooltip “You haven’t collected this appearance”, as you would with any item you could use.

This item, like any other appearance, is added to your collection when it is purchased. There should be no delay if acquired by a character that can use it.

Those were granted specifically from a Feat of Strength and appearances are otherwise account-wide, if they are added to the collection.

I’m not sure what you did to open a ticket, Plaguespewer, I don’t see any on your account.

Generally speaking, a Game Master isn’t able to refund an item that had a refund timer available as you are supposed to be able to refund it yourself within the two-hour timer. However, it is possible that they might be able to help in this situation since you obviously cannot use the appearance on this character. Try submitting a ticket using this category.

That is not listed on Wowhead an officially supported community site by blizzard. So when I purchased the item I am under the distinction because it is a cosmetic item and does not provide any value to the game besides an appearance. There is no where for a player who wishes to purchase a cosmetic item where it states that you must equip the cosmetic item for it to be unlocked. For normal items it is clear and defined that the item must be able to be equipped for it to be added to the wardrobe. It may be necessary to change the definition of a cosmetic item then.

Regardless of it being natively available the item does not provide use beyond an appearance. I am a player who excitedly waited for this shield appearance and mostly play on my DK so my DK is the one who will have the timewarped badges available. I also enjoy collecting transmog appearances. Why should a player be excluded from unlocking a cosmetic appearance simply because their class cannot equip the shield? If I earned the appropriate amount of badges I should be able to purchase an appearance unlock for all my characters.

The items listed were also formerly binds on pickup but were hotfixed to Binds to Blizzard Account later on. Essentially the same rules apply here because players who logged on during the 2 month event rightfully earned the appearances for all characters. Doesn’t mean they have to be able to equip them but if they properly achieved the means to have the appearance they should have them.

The issue here with the Aegis is that it is listed as Cosmetic and their are not clear defined rules for Cosmetic items. The example of the Wow movie items show that it is possible for cosmetic items to be made Blizzard Account Bound. Additionally cosmetic items do not provide any value to the player besides for an appearance. Under the definition that is available to me was that cosmetic items should unlock to all characters upon purchase.

Please pass this issue along to your supervisor or a senior blizzard staff member. As I understand you did not make the definition of the Aegis as being cosmetic, but I believe this was an oversight and that the Aegis was meant to unlock for all players. The purpose of my post is to get to the intentions of releasing a cosmetic item but only make it available to a select group? When the item itself does provide a gameplay boost like a weapon or shield with real stats on it.

If you’d like to see a change, you will need to post your suggestion in the appropriate forum. Our SFAs here are not middlemen/women to pass along our notes.

As to your issue as a whole, with the exception of those very limited time items you described - pretty much everything must be equippable in order to learn it. That’s how it’s been since cosmetics became available.

Also, in response to your ‘not on WoWHead’ bit? Cosmetics follow the same rules as general Transmog. Kind of appreciate the irony in using a DK with a shield as their example.

Which I would respond to the same thing I put in my OP.

How about items with the “Cosmetic” classification?

Anything that reads “Cosmetic” on the item will unlock in the wardrobe across all of your characters.

Key word is anything. So is it anything that is cosmetic or anything that is cosmetic and equipable? Again unclear terms but that is also due to most cosmetic items being armor and not weapons, shields, or offhand.

Wowhead, and sites similar to it are fantastic resources, but I don’t believe the information listed is considered official. That said, they do have a FAQ that seems to cover the Transmog system. They even have a question that uses Death Knights and shields as an example.

What about things we can’t equip?

Short answer, No. Long answer, essentially let’s say you play a Death Knight. If a quest reward offers you a shield, or you loot a shield, that shield will not be added to your wardrobe. If you cannot equip the item, it will not be added. That being said, even if a Death Knight can equip a cloth helm, it still will not be added to your wardrobe because it is not meant for your class, at the same time, the if you got Class:Warrior tier, it still won’t count. So to clarify, you must be able to equip the item, it must be of your primary armor type, and it must be able to be obtainable and equipped by your class. Once these terms are met, then the item will be added to your wardrobe.

That is how the transmogrification system works and has always worked.

Yes and no. All characters cannot use those appearances, the items would still need to be equippable by that character/class in order to use them. It is also important to understand that the items themselves weren’t what added the appearances to the collection tab, it was the Feat of Strength. That isn’t how the Replica items you purchase from the Timewalking vendor works.

If you’d like to share your feedback with the game teams then there are a couple of ways to do that.

If you wish to provide feedback about the game or suggestion on how you believe something should work I’d recommend submitting that feedback so that our game developers can review it. You can do so by opening the Support menu in-game and selecting the Submit a Suggestion option in the in-game browser. If you wish to post on the forums I’d recommend doing so in the Transmogrification forum.

Leilleath and Vrakthris, I will take your recommendations and go to the transmog forum to get this change to happen because I strongly believe this is an oversight in the game when the Aegis was designed. Thank you for your time.

I wish you well in your efforts, but I feel it necessary to point out that the rules of the transmogrification system are fairly clear. The Aegis works like every other item in the game. It is considered a shield, and therefore not an appearance that a Death Knight would be able to acquire. That applies to Cosmetics, so it is not an oversight.

Please be sure to submit a ticket as I outlined above so our staff can see if they are able to refund the purchase. These things tend to be fairly time-sensitive so the sooner the better.
