Trying to figure this out, for example, I want to replace the “fizzle” sounds to just be nothing.
I tried making a sound folder in retail and making a wav file name " SPELL_Shadow_Fizzle" which is what wowhead states it’s called. but when put in the folder, nothing happens. any advice? I’m also planning to change some gun shot sounds.
Also tried .ogg to no avail.

Thanks I’ll use this for now, I’m reading around it’s no longer possible to do custom sounds since 8.2.
Careful there, warden bans for changing system files.
Addons have been using custom sounds forever.
Addons yes, they don’t change the basic files in the wow folder, they add new ones.
There was a program to change armor/weapons/race textures and that is bannable.

You can’t change the files themselves, you can have an addon play different files.
Try taking some reading classes, instead of trying to derail topics that you have no idea about.
