Also, the only “Unique” weapon skins from the Mage Tower were: (AKA you can’t get a similar weapon in-game, not necessarily looks wise, but how it functions)
Havoc: No other energy based Warglaive in-game:
Guardian: No other bear form with a unique skeleton in-game:
Prot Paladin/Warrior: No other Flails in the game:
I wanted the Shattered Reckoning Ashbringer skin since it appeared in the announcement trailer. I followed threads as investigative players tried to discern where the skin might be found. Months later, it would eventually turn out that the skin wouldn’t be available until the Mage Tower. By that point, I wasn’t even playing the game. I had other things going on in my life.
It’s strange to me that we are treating the entitlement of a handful of players who were around for a relatively small window of time in the game’s history as more important than the enjoyment of the rest of the playerbase.
I’ve been playing the game on and off since launch day. There’s a lot of things I have that were either difficult to get, or have probably been removed in that time. In a heartbeat I would be glad to see any of those things be made more widely available. My interest is in the things I want, my interest is not in keeping others from getting what they want.
What really annoys me is that I had moved on, but this reopens the wound in the worst possible way. It would be better off to never reference the Mage Tower again than repeat this mistake in an entirely new way.
I dunno if I’m reading you wrong, but in case you were unaware, we used to, tree form was the resto form and it gave you poly protection and the other benefits of cat/bear/chicken, but it got dropped for… reasons?
I literally got them during Legion and not a single time did I think I was better or thought to myself I like something because others couldnt get that. Its such a malicious mindset. Just bring them back. The only people that dont want them back just feel a need to feel better than others, and thats their problem.
Yeah, but which ones are unobtainable now? There are plenty of cat forms out there and they’re not as unique as this bear form or the flails. To me, it just seems like the flails and bear form are the biggest ones that are unique.
might I recommend having a new recolor for more than just guardians? As a (hopefully) happy compromise for people who want the mage tower appearances and for one reason or another couldn’t get them during Legion without totally pissing off the people who want them to remain locked.
(although, I’m also among the crowd who would be fine with you just bringing back the ability to get the appearances…I got all the ones I wanted but disc priest back in the day)
Guys, you do realize that California state law prevents them from bringing back things that were advertised as limited time? Like I know Blizzard is going Thanos by collecting every lawsuit – but I really doubt they want to get in trouble for something involving the trade commission.
Though, I dont understand why they just dont make a new appearance if they are going to do it for werebear.
Ugh, I really hate that they’re taking the FOMO supporter side. It’s just purely unfair. And I have the Mage Tower swords for Frost, I wouldn’t mind at all if new Frost DKs who didn’t play during Legion got a chance to earn them.
Oh well. Maybe in the next Mage Tower they will add some cool new class-themed weapon models!
“retaining some nebulous ability to gloat that only I get to have it” is the perfect description for why it’s asinine that the artifact appearances aren’t being restored. I cannot imagine that there is literally anyone riding through Oribos or wherever, sees someone whip out a Mage Tower appearance, and thinks, “OMG so cool what an amazing feat! I shall live in awe that I may never do it!” To the extent that anyone notices at all, they might hit inspect to see what it is, look up how to get it, discover that it is no longer obtainable, and then just be disappointed/annoyed about it.
But, hey, we certainly wouldn’t want anyone to feel diminished! You know, except for those players that couldn’t play Legion for whatever reason and therefore never even had the opportunity to try their hands at the mage tower… their fault for not being around, right? Or the players that maybe changed their main spec since then… should’ve foreseen the need back then, right?
If they tuned them well, then the fact that the challenges would only be available for what, a week every three months or so, means they’d still be pretty exclusive. Still a way to prove mastery of a spec. If a player who started since Legion is able to complete the challenge today (and let’s not forget that especially as Antorus went on, they got easier and easier), then is that not a similar accomplishment? What about the years 2017-2018 makes doing the challenge then so special that it must be preserved against any newcomers?
you missed what i was getting at, obvious legion timewalking in general will continue in 1 week periods like the other ones, but wasnt sure if the mage tower was also included in that or if it was meant as a one time thing during the first two weeks.
I mean most of the weapons were iconic and a lot of people would love another chance to get them. Life happens, I couldn’t get any due to life being bull at the time. Give the armor to people who have the stuff and add back the old looks is my hot take since I would have WAY rather glowey cat form then a bear since I don’t take. If it’s still challenging then why not? I’m just one opinion whispering into the wind.
Cool. Now bring back 40 man naxx for transmog and allow players to transmog the same armor type like bmah. Or we can just leave everything on the bmah and players buying dozens of WoW tokens to outbid eachother.
