I mean, yea a fel kitty would be soooo slick - but, I can see the logic here. The artefact appearances for the cat pretty much all used the same rigging. The bear appearance was completely unique with no counterpart in game accessible except the tower. So I can see them giving in on that - that seems super fair to me. And while a fel kitty would be nice, then people would say (like you) what about flails, hey, druids got new variants of the old appearances, how come we don’t get a recolour of the priest staff etc. So, you know, it would not end.
Does this mean that we have to do each challenge on a unique character (therefore 7 different characters), or that we simply have to do each challenge, and how many characters we use to accomplish that is immaterial?
Well I meant those particular mage tower appearances were all unique in some way. So all of those are currently unobtainable now.
No fire glaives why even live
imo, every spec should’ve gotten a new skin for their mage tower appearance, this combined with the other druid forms coming in 9.1.5 kinda feels bad for the other classes.
As someone who earned the original werebear form I’m genuinely happy that new or returning players are getting a chance at the form. A really cool recolor of it too, so well done on that Blizz! On the other hand I can’t agree with leaving the weapon models out. There wasn’t much in the way of outrage over the weapon models. The vast majority of the people complaining about their so called “accomplishments being diminished” are people who very specifically wanted to gatekeep the werebear model. Since Blizz opened the floodgates on that, there is really no logical reason not to include either the original weapon models or recolors of them too.
I believe that applies to purchases and why they cannot bring back the Tyrael’s charger mount from their annual pass promo. No one paid for the MT appearances. They paid for access to the server, which they received. Anything “limited” in the game is not being paid for.
Dear Blizzard why would you contradict yourself. In your announcement about this mage tower you say the Mage Tower appearances won’t come back cause you say it would diminish those players accomplishments. However that doesn’t hold water when you are giving Guardian druid a recolor of their appearance. The Prot Pally Flail and Prot Warrior Flail isn’t unique really. What about the Feral form. I got my Demon Hunters back in Legion. Now I main my Warlock I didn’t play back then I would like to at least get the model even if it a different recolor. Way to Kill he most excitement I have had for Time walking content or new content I have had in a while. By giving Guardian Druid a recolor of their Mage tower appearance and not everyone else is total B.S. You already have the models and effects in the game it wouldn’t be that hard to give every spec a time walking recolor of their mage tower appearance. Come on Blizz don’t be lazy give all the classes a time walking recolor of the appearence.
this! 100% this.
not wantin more people to earn stuff now is the same as wishing mounts would stop dropping when stuff get soloable cuz “it was not soloable at the time qqqq”.
I would also like to point out without a skin Feral gets nothing from the mage tower. We don’t see our armor in form after we earn it. Our skins were our reward. If you’re going to give the Bear form a reward because it’s “unique” and can’t see the armor you better do it for the Feral Druid.
(Some) people didn’t like it so the affects were baked into the spec itself, and the form went on to be purely aesthetic.
Tree would have been nice for resto one. Would have been a good opportunity for a new moonkin form too! Maybe someday
I like the idea of armor rewards but I think recolors for all the weapons would have been good too. Perhaps they can add more rewards later since it’s a repeating event. Although having it up permanently would be better.
Edit:. And I agree with all the “where’s the kitty recolor” posts too.
These rewards are amazing! Thank you guys so much!
My point of feedback here however is this:
To celebrate the return of the Mage Tower, we plan to have Legion Timewalking open for two consecutive weeks when it first appears on the calendar. Thereafter, Legion Timewalking will occur for the standard one-week-at-a-time in rotation with other Timewalking events from past expansions.
The full two weeks to start is appreciated, but after this, won’t we only have a handful of times per year to play with the Mage Tower and earn its rewards?
Across 7 higher difficulty challenges, and 12 classes of transmog (earned at max level only I assume), and now even more rewards like the fel bear and tome mount, that seems to be like a lot of content that would take a significant amount of time for the average person! Why limit these rewards only to be earned only during a handful of times per year?
As more timewalking difficulties are introduced as well, this will only become a worse problem as each expansion’s timewalking takes longer between each time it’s up… Maybe something can be done to remedy this?
Scaled down content from past expansions… This is something that FF 14 does already so well, and I feel like WoW would benefit so much in having it all the time! At the very least, perhaps multiple timewalking events can occur at once, or they can happen more frequently?
It would feel bad just to be able to do this stuff only a few times a year… Please consider this!
I like the idea of the tower coming back and the rewards but locking a cool mount like that behind a mega meta geek achievement seems like a waste.
No other energy based cat forms either
LOL no kidding. Well I’m happy - I think this is fair and it’s appealing (to me, anyhow).
I dunno 36 recolors is one approach that could work, I always felt it’d be easier to just open them up lazily since the mage tower wasn’t super prestigious in legion by the end. I’m just saying one recolor for one of 36 specs is a weird choice especially since the argument they are using is that this one in particular is unique. Most of the mage tower weapons are unique in one way or another.
Technically you did, since you paid for the content of the expansion – meaning its still a limited time offer.
Yep, I remember the old tree form. Had a hilarious dance if I remember correctly. Probably should have said “reintroduce” or “return” tree form to be more clear. In any case, would love it if restos had this option, but I’m for pretty much all druid custo options. Still waiting on more moonkin form updates. Steward appearance soon? /swoon
You are not paying for anything other than access to the servers. If that wasn’t the case, I could just demand Blizzard give me full mythic raid gear since “I paid for it”.
