It certainly does pop up if you’re in range of seeing the marker, which is what I said. And you shouldn’t even need to take that quest to upgrade your gear.
Do you work for Blizzard? Obviously a lot of people are having this issue.

Who said I want rewards? I would be 100% OK with all gear and weapons being normalized once you engage in PVP combat and or Insta or a PVP instance. The point that you keep missing is that in order to be viable in PVP i.e. not get completely obliterated in one second you have to do PVE content you have to do dungeons you have to do daily quests you have to rep grind.
In the simplest terms I could possibly imagine to get through your dense skull; during game development figure out how many hours it takes for PVE players to get their best possible gear and then apply the same requirements for PVP content.
Maybe some people want to mix and match maybe some people only PVE maybe some people only PVP it seems pretty simple to figure out.
The issue is people with your mentality think to take it or leave it and that blizzard does nothing wrong.
Looking at my Renown, there’s a a check mark next to the Unrated PVP Upgrade, shouldn’t that mean that I’m good to upgrade? Adding the quest is silly and there’s nothing that indicates it’s a requirement or a reward. At least don’t put the check mark there until the quest is completed. It’s confusing otherwise and there isn’t anything that indicates it’s required.

The quest marker still showed up for me in my covenant while I was in bastion.
Unless I totally spaced that it popped up right next to me, I’m pretty sure the breadcrumb to Oribos is on an NPC on the other side of the sanctum. I teleported back as a Mage from that spot and never even saw a quest. That was the confusion. Should be like a breadcrumb to a new zone. Like hey, you can upgrade your gear now!! Or if you’re already in Oribos, just have it auto complete.
Any reason this can’t just be made automatic? We don’t have to do quests to upgrade our soulbind rows. Seems random to add a quest that we just pick up, fly to oribos, and hand it for the upgrade to become active.
Not a big deal I guess, but it just seems like an unnecessary step.
Thanks for the explanation- hopefully the feedback here will give a tooltip that actually describes what we need to do (since stating the renown requirement isn’t the full truth of what is needed here).
Sounds to me like a workaround for a bug or programming oversight (logical if so, but needs better tooltip)

Lmfao the quest you’re losing your mind over is literally talking to one npc in your covenant then another npc on Oribos. Its not a chain, and it’s hardly a “quest”.
you have to complete the quest, its from order hall sends you to honor vendor. The quest becomes available at renown 7. Do the quest and than you will be able to upgrade your gear

Agreed. Not to mention having this mess, but there’s too many quests with not enough help or data to them. I’m struggling just to complete covenant. At the same time, I have Torghast quests, ones for the etheral lady (Vash…something in the Maw), and then dailies.
My head is about to explode.

Genuinely im a smidgen confused by all this. My rogue is ilvl 172. Shes renown 15. We’ve done the turn in quest properly. Yet i pop to the honor vendor and all that’s available is 158 gear?
What am i missing? Is there another, proper honor vendor im supposed to dig out in oribos? Ive been to wowhead. 158 is the base rank zero gear. With the boost, i should be seeing 170+ gear. I aint seeing it. I want to stress… IVE TURNED IN THE QUEST (including flying to oribos). I did it a couple of weeks ago. But it all still sits at 158. My honor level is 4/5. Could this be a mitigating factor?
And while i have your ear… why are my world quests at 155? Im renown level 15. Why do they also switch out from 171 when im looking at them in my covenant base, to 161 when i complete them? What on earth is happening blizz?
