Disagree. Love a no pet spec.
I don’t mind the play style of adding an Eagle mechanic to do stuff as it includes the animal aspect as part of your gameplay style which still being a hunter at the core should still remain a major driving force to include animal gameplay features to a degree.
But what I take issue with is that I enjoy Marksman spec the most and I also solo a lot with my hunter and so if your doing delves or whatever content where you can now bring in a pet to tank for you and Misdirect your threat to your pet is a MAJOR thing that seems to be going away which is horrible.
I like to activate my Misdirect on my pet and then Barrage and do a 360 spin and then I see all the mobs come running and dog piling my pet and then I use traps and all my AOE to nuke them down and it’s really satisfying.
I won’t be able to do this anymore and that makes me sad.
As a Hunter since Early BC, (but I’ve probably deleted more characters and maxed more than I can remember) a Hunter has pets. MM Hunters are already stabling pets for raid. Why remove them? I have been reading about this, but it makes no sense whatsoever. Just leave it the heck alone Blizz. Stop screwing with the natural order of things. Leave it as a choice. You’re going to piss off 50% of the Hunters. Idc if you want it for raiding, then put your damn pet away. I want my pet for solo delves and everyday BS. I usually do boss fights without my pets, but that’s usually because I forget to pull them out. Stop messing with Class. Wth!
An “Eagle Eyed” marksman hunter with an eagle pet. I’m still wracking my brain over this nonsensical pet.
MM not having pets would live up to the RPG experience of being a… Well… Marksman
What’s with all these troll posts man
For all the anti-pet people who take the time to come here and patronize, insult and try to troll…I think they’re truly scared. They are clearly surprised at how little numbers their view has when they feel the need to be so obnoxious to those of us speaking to Blizz (not them) about our concerns.
Isn’t it odd then that they still want to continue with MM having a pet? lol
It’s a pet ‘light’ which is even more annoying than just letting us have our own pet options.
i thought you didnt have to use a pet if u took lone wolf…
so what is the point of this?
Hoe was it failed? It was an amazing rpg element
What’s to be scared of lol. The changes are coming in our favor. Time for fido to get the needle
Most of you come off insulting and scared. It’s no my job to figure that out.
Yes we are scared of getting our way please cope harder
Would you feel the same way if your Rogue had its most iconic feature made unavailable to one of the specs, perhaps the spec you enjoy playing the most?
Would you feel it was ok for the response to be, well, just play one of your other specs, even if you don’t happen to like those other specs?
Tauren warlocks corrupted the spirit realms faith in mortals, mm hunters delving into shadow magic lately has caused them to lose their connection to spirit.
BM hunters fortunately are more focused on maintaining that connection which is why they are now capable of taming more dangerous beasts (single pet damage boost).
There’s always classic if you’re incapable of adjusting your rp towards a changing gameworld.
Sure. Same with every other class.
If they want to modify a spec so that it loses access to something iconic, but gains the utility that the iconic ability provided? I’d be perfectly fine with that. It’s hardly the first time that Blizzard has done something like this. They did something similar in Cataclysm with Restoration Druids.
Back in TBC they were granted the iconic ‘Treant Form’ which massively enhanced their restoration spells, at the cost of a movement speed penalty. They made multiple changes to it over several patches, but it was a permanent form that Restoration Druids were used to using in all content where they were needed.
Then in Cataclysm, Blizzard changed it so that it was no longer a permanent form, instead it turned into a cooldown that only lasted 30 seconds. Then in Mists of Pandaria they removed the ability entirely and incorporated it into the Incarnation Talent. Meaning if you didn’t pick that talent (you had 3 to choose from in that line) you didn’t have Tree Form at all.
It’s remained that way since. It’s only available if you pick the talent that gives you access to Incarnation. Otherwise, no tree form.
Then there’s Frost Mages, the Water Elemental pet was iconic to that spec. That was also added in TBC. Started as a cooldown, was turned into a permanent pet with Cataclysm if you specced into the Frost tree, and then it got removed in Dragonflight, only summoned now whenever you activate Icy Veins.
And let’s not forget Demonology Warlocks and Metamorphosis. An iconic ability of that spec for over a decade until Blizzard yanked it in 2016 and made the ability exclusive to Demon Hunters.
One character that this works on is Quinn from league of legends. You got an archer with a pet eagle that is off screen. But that pet assists you by blinding your enemies or marking them giving you a damage proc. It also scouts an area giving you vision…
I think the fantasy is there and it works for a sniper and a flying eagle that assists you works just fine.
Yeah but we can already have that if we want. You just tame a bird. You get to choose what kind of bird and you can name it as well. It’s infinitely better than a generic eagle that everyone has. Plus you still also have the option to be a proper sharpshooter without a pet. We won’t have that anymore.
This is great news, time to roll Marks baby!
Blizzard wants to enforce the fantasy. Otherwise everyone would just cry about wanting to use a dog.
I think the flying eagle off screen is far more interesting and follows the same concept as the character from league. Sometimes enforcing a theme leads to interesting things like a dragon class…
Anyways, you still have 2 specs you can continue to use your pets with…
Hence all the complaints.
