Removing pets from MM goes against Blizz’s stated goal of keeping the RPG in MMORPG

Exactly! That’s really the only issue I see from people.

Kind-of still lone, since the eagle (as I understand what’s been written) is just a visual effect to let you know a proc happened.

The eagle is probably the most insulting aspect of the change lol.

Would you be fine if your pet was there but only cosmetically or basically wouldn’t provide any additional support outside of melee/taunt?

One of the pain point which I agree also seem to be using pets for buffs which can be annoying if pets are kept in their current way.

I would absolutely be fine with this, if the pet just took the place of the eagle and was visible out on the field for flavor, but did not act as a pet ala survival/bm I’d even be fine if it couldn’t taunt/directly attack like the MM’s eagle can’t, just having the option to have it there visually for flavor would be enough for me, personally, but I run BM myself so…?

Having to bloodlust as MM is currently very painful and annoying.

The way this is being changed is in line with their reasoning for removing double timewarp from mages, where they didn’t want to create situations where it’s time to lust, but the person who brings it really doesn’t want to press it.

I personally would be fine with this, if it means I still get to have my pet. Sometimes it’s nice just having one by my side while I travel!

Don’t we have an entire system of non-combat pets that can act as that?

This is the most likely route that I see being taken in the future.

yea. it’s painful enough that when I do keys I often don’t invite MM hunters if I need lust because even if they can do it there is about a 40% chance they dont pull their pet out for it.

if non combat pets could share the looks of the actual combat pets then I dont think we’d be having this conversation

gameplay > class fantasy.

until pet AI works properly in place like siege last boss or queen platform… screw pet.

And not a single one of those is a red alpaca. Besides, there are many pets that don’t have non-combat counterparts. Plus they’d be too SMALL! I like having my big alpaca.

I dont play on a RP server, don’t care about RP server, and I really hope my brewmaster would get a complete rework.

True. WoW has been willing to sacrifice RP elements in favor of better gameplay for a long time now.

Judging by what it sounds like they’re planning for the spec, I don’t know if “just any” pet really works for the theme. What with the idea of a spotting eagle being “pinpoint the target and keep it in sight while the hunter finishes it off”, that sort of idea doesn’t really translate well to “giant bear pinning the target down and not giving the hunter a line”

I can see them making glyphs for different kinds of birds, though

This “new creative way” involves taking away something that was enjoyed by most.

I don’t know where you came up with that ridiculous claim. Its definitely not new and never will be for ANY class.

can we get a stat for that?

See Sendryn’s post. I’m not going to remind you.

The stat is “I made it up”

Then they’ll turn around and in the same breath denounce anyone that points out most MM hunters run with Lone Wolf

If they were actually committing to the fully petless marksman concept I’d honestly be happier. But they aren’t. Instead they’re lumping us all with a generic eagle. Which ironically makes them feel closer to BM than their current pets. BM has abilities that directly command their pet, as will this new version of MM with the eagle.
