Nah I’m actually correct. Who knows more? The class dev for hunter or sendryn the forum hero?
The difference is that BM pets actually have interactions, having the choice between 1 or 2 pets for BM actually makes sense and they have stated from the get go that solitary companion will be a throughput loss.
It’d be nice if they still let us at least summon a pet cosmetically… I’m going to feel lonely without my alpaca! Yes, yes… Vulpera with an alpaca, original I know.
And before anyone tells me the same thing they’re telling everyone; “just go play BM” I prefer the abilities from Marksman. Plus, I’ve already got another hunter that’s BM… or two.
Given blizzards generally accepted and rampant incompetence at balancing class, and some terrible decisions in their class designs, like trying to force frost DK’s to be DW exclusive, everything to do with brewmasters, and evokers augmentation spec, I wouldn’t put much faith in blizzards ability to know their classes anymore than some random player running a hunter, lmao.
And if we can’t have this choice… it’d be nice to at least have a cosmetic summon of our single pet. I imagine at least some of the upset would be calmed from that. Not ALL, but some. Either way, I’d rather have AN option rather than NO option whether I use my pet or not.
Personally I find the idea of marksman being way different more appealing in term of rpg fantasy, I never really like the pet mechanic for hunters the way it worked and I’d probably want survival to be able to work around the same way.
Nah I know they make mistakes, this just isn’t one for people that play the spec.
And it won’t matter, the spec is changing and all will be normal on 11.1 release.
It really doesn’t, the spec only has one interaction with a pet outside of just sending it in combat and that interaction was pretty hated since it was a throughput loss for MM. (bloodlust)
yea that’s the difference between a pet spec and one that really hasn’t been one for a long time. the plethora of new talents that comes along with this rework for MM is also a big plus.
I’m fairly certain everyone would be down with a glyph that turns your eagle into a stable pet. No complaints from me here.
They’re “working on it” after all, which can mean anything. The eagle is very RP, but that’s not the matter. Choice and enjoyment are the matter.
What I’d like to know is, why pro-eagle people are so vehemently anti-pet, so anti choice ? I’m (obviously) not american, so I might lack some US-social awareness. Is it in fact because they are irritated by people complaing/“whining”, and not the whys ? Really, there’s not a single argument in favor of “eagle only” and/or “no pets”. Because they want things uniform ? It’s a game played by millions, you can want to be asocial and dominant, but in the end you won’t silence or cancel people by shouting harder, far from “everybody” uses lone wolf, and no, MM won’t got BM or survival. Because they fear they won’t get a relevant well-deserved rework ? It wouldn’t be the pro-pet fault then, at worst making them more vocal is a risk that devs freeze and the rework fails - it wouldn’t be the first time ^^
(ok it’s because GD is a cesspool but not everybody is a troll, far from)
It’s easy and usual to target the dev’s incompetence, but it seems the changes fit a lot of people’s playstyle. If they can do it right, nothing really prevents them from just… leaving pets as is and reworking lone wolf to switch to eagle ? Players will use eagle in M+ and raids or be kicked anyway - and I hope it’s good, and “casuals” will have them tank expeditions and be pretty, so why care if you lose nothing and gain a lot more ?
At least trying to agree on things might clear the way for devs and help them work better, or am I just too dru… naive ?
Hey! I didn’t think I’d need to explain to someone what a specialization in since it’s been in the game for 20 years and is a real life word, but here we go.
A specialization is something you specialize in. It’s a specific area of expertise that you are good at.
As a restoration druid, I specialize in using healing magic to tend to the wounds of my allies. But I can still turn into a cat, or shoot the power of the moon and stars. I can still turn into a fierce bear and tank hits. I am just not as good at is as another druid who specializes in it.
A demonology warlock excels in conjuring demons, but that does not mean they can’t cast curses, and an affliction warlock can still summon demons.
A beast mastery hunter specializes in taming and commanding beasts, but they can still shoot their bows at a long range for an aimed shot or a sniper shot. They just don’t excel in it.
So that means a Marksman can still tame and commanding beasts, but they don’t excel in it, and they specialize in archery.
And I’m on the side of the hunters who DON’T want their pets removed. Everywhere I go I see a very small number of people who actually like the change and they’re getting massively ratiod.
Ah, apologies. I misunderstood. Someone earlier was claiming it’s just myself and Magnarok who want the option of a pet, so I thought this was similar. Sorry.
The point is that they are adding quite a lot of new talents with the rework. They aren’t going to swap it back for a little bit of time and that’s assuming people are still complaining. I believe they will forget about this within a month of 11.1 release.
It actually is shared.
Lone wolf has been in the game for a long time since WoD to be specific and has been good for most if not all of that. If since WoD doesn’t classify as a long time I don’t really know what does. Sorry you feel that way though?
