Removing pets from MM goes against Blizz’s stated goal of keeping the RPG in MMORPG

Because in this context it is a gotcha.

You’re not doing any M+. You’re not doing any rated PvP. You’re not doing any Raids, which leaves you with Delves and World Content where not having Lone Wolf and actually just using a pet has its best case use.

And even when you’re doing conent where using a pet is arguably better, you’re still using Lone Wolf!

I literally just explained this to you. There’s more to group content than M+ and Raiding.

But I specced out of LW just to get you lot to stop yapping about it as if me choosing an optional talent means I must be for removing the option to have a pet.

Would having lone wolf as the talent slotted actually stop you from pulling out your pet? or is it just a damage loss if you pull the pet out while its slotted?

Apparently doing anything other than min/maxing the game is bad. You must be a slave to the meta at all times.

The game is not balanced around Delves and World Content–which is the only thing you could be doing–since you do not have PVP, M+ or Raiding progress at all.

Don’t you see how silly it is for you to argue and die on this ‘pets for MM’ hill when you yourself are not using pets in a scenario where it’s arguably better to use them where you otherwise never would because of a DPS loss?

You can still call pets, you just don’t get the dmg bonus.

OK. Let me rephrase my question. For the people doing “relevant” content, how many do you think are using LW for the DPS buff it applies and how many do you think are doing it just to avoid having a pet?

Considering that the demand for a sniper fantasy was so strong that Lone Wolf was created in the first place…I’d say that most MM hunters do want to use a pet at all.

Given the fact there has not been a demand to remove Lone Wolf since its creation and just have pets be stronger overall, the logicial conclusion is that not many hunter players, and especially those who play MM particularly care.

Most classes don’t usually demand to do less DPS. The reason LW is chosen is because pets take time to get to different targets, and they don’t really contribute to AOE damage at all. So they’d have to do a lot of redesigning for pets to make up for removing LW.

Seriously? Have you seen any of the other forums on this topic? There are so many at this point and this is one of the smaller ones. General trend I noticed is several people will chime in with just one or two posts supporting the change, but immediately get mobbed by the half dozen keyboard crusaders that shout them down to ensure their opinion is the loudest.

Plus, as mentioned, people are more likely to come shout on the forums about things they don’t like, then they are to come post their support. It’s makes sense. Both sides feels they will get the changes if they do nothing, so the side that doesn’t want them feel the need to be proactive. In all honesty, the forums are more of an echo chamber than a microcosm of the player base.

Counter point, if the demand was so strong why did the attempt to remove pets from MM fail twice before hand once it was actually put in?

Dunno what you’re referring to

They attempted to remove pets and go with the “Petless” theme for WoD and Legion for MM, both times it went live the actual player-base resoundingly told Blizz to get bent, and they had to back peddle and keep pets in. This is the third attempt at removing pets from MM, so, we’ll see if they’re forced to backpeddle again.

this, this, omg so much this.

Which will have 2 pets now. An eagle, and your choice of owl or hound.

Where is the truly petless option?

For the people doing that higher end content, they use LW because it does more damage. That’s all.

If the pet did more damage, maybe some people would use them. It only needs to be comparable for somebody to wanna be different. I was using Rapid Shot over Aimed Shot for a long time because of tier set bonuses, but in the end Aimed Shot DPS is just superior, so I’m just playing that way now.

I decided to try leveling my horde hunter as a MM just to see how it felt, and I’ll be honest, I think I still prefer having the pet but I’m overall digging the playstyle of MM over BM, gonna suck to have to go back when MM loses its pets lol.

sounds like you have a personal problem and don’t understand the idea of someone having an independent opinion. I can’t imagine it not daunting on somebody that maybe someone else actually likes this idea. But then again the narrow minded and judgmental are usually quick to insult others when their opinion doesn’t align with yours.

yeah, it’s a little more than mob mentality. A handful of people dislike the change and then anyone who supports it has to either be an idiot or a troll. I don’t really have time for the opinions of people who insist on insulting others simply for appreciating a change.
