Removing Deepwind Gorge and Keeping Seething Shore

This thread is to hopefully raise a little awareness to our PvP Devs who make it clearer and clearer every day that they have no idea what is going on in their own games and are so far out of touch with their player base who continue to provide feedback that is just simple ignored.

There are not a lot of people who play rated battlegrounds but the ones who do, generally, dislike Seething shore. Every time the group sighs and are upset every time that horrible map design reappears. A few problems include : A bug where the enemy players are invisible until a /reload which is plenty of time to be killed, or somebody without the bug CCs each player on the team, the games are long, and the map the has RNG advantages. For example - 2 nodes are spawned at the south at the start of the game, it requires either monk to chi torpedo with a levitate to reach it or a demon hunter who knows how to glide quickly. But out of no where, a decision is made to remove Deepwind Gorge, a map that many enjoy especially in this current meta. It is very competitive and games often come down to quick decision making or down to the wire kills/caps. It is very out of the blue to just pull that map from the pool, especially when seething shore is what the majority of the community has been pleading to be removed.

Thank you for read, please voice your opinion in this thread.

Seething shore is the worst Rated Battleground map ever made, 15 times worst than Strand of the Ancients.

Generally dislike? I have never, ever entered a Seething Shore in an RBG team of any rating and ever not seen a collective vocal loathing. Ive even seen outright “Just leave, its not worth playing” at over 2400 rating. We got our points back on other maps that wernt the opposite of fun.

Seething Shore is like having to win Battle of Gilneas 15 times in a row to get your 1500 points. My personal favorite was when two melee were sent to a base and a warlock had set up their demonic portal on a tall bit of rubble and there was nothing the melee could do because even if one of them was a death knight to grip the Warlock, he’d have just tp’d back up to his security bubble of cant touch this.

Ive seen games at 1400-1400 lost because the enemy had the next spawn spawn under their flagship and they just had a respawn drop down and loot the last 100 which was impossible to spin because we didnt have any dead to drop there.

But yeah remove Deepwind Gorge, a map that was only broken when Venge Demon Hunters were unkillable and had way too much mobility. It took Blizzy Indietainment 3 years(Counting beta testing for Legion) to fix DH’s reaching bases fast enough to CAP them before any other class could and Tanks / Healers being so unbelievably powerful you dealt with DH’s by CCing them as much as possible because a kill was LITERALLY not mathematically possible. And then you remove the BG just when it becomes enjoyable by fixing the basically bugged state of the game???

Pardon? Even Holinka wasnt this bad. Holinka was a very, very unskilled PvP developer but at least he only forced us to live in Trashcan Island(Ashran) instead of REMOVING functioning, liked Battlegrounds.

Tell your Dev team they have to reach 50% approval ratings with the player base in 6 months or youre firing them all. This is unacceptable. The worst part is I misread this posts title and thought I was going to be happy. I thought the post said Seething Shore was also being removed.

Maybe I was unclear in how I phrased it, but the comma is intended to split the word generally from the word dislike. But yeah, I agree with you’re saying. It actually baffles me how decisions like this get made at activision-blizzard.

In response to your post, it is not ideal to bash the PvP Developers because they already hear this every day. With regards to Seething Shore, you made valuable claims such as the bugs that who knows when it will be fixed and RNG advantages. However, no one is making the true argument that the meta is the problem in Rated Battle Grounds. I made this observation during the middle of Legion that teams should not double stack specs. There was a lot of speculation that Rated Battle Grounds would turn into a system like OverWatch (6v6). Many community leaders (or what’s left of them) had interviews with game developers and were told that this would only work if the community started doing 6v6 wargame tournaments. I know I don’t queue as many Rated Battle Grounds as I did in the past, but I have queued a few amount of Seething Shore ( 1 including vs a 2800 team in early s1 that we won) and none of the games lasted 45 minutes or whatever the random time length people state. I do say, if games are really that long then yeah maybe there should be a time limit. Regarding with the removal of Deep Wind Gorge, my favorite, I am disappointed with their decision of removing that instead of fixing the actual problem, the gameplay not the maps. So removing Seething Shore will not fix the state of Rated Battle Grounds, because the actual problem(s) will still exists.

Of course greov likes seething shore and claims it dosent last 45 minutes. Dont you have noone to invite you anymore???

I don’t think you have read my post clearly, because I have never said I liked Seething Shore. And i refrain from attacking people on WoWforums

No attacks. Me r defense!

I am trying to provide feedback from current players who are looking to improve the bracket, rather than feedback from those who attempt to discredit honest feedback with false experiences. Other than the simple fact that you’re wrong, the post is more so about not removing deep wind gorge. 6v6 was never going to be a thing and keep the topic on-point.

I agree the removal of deepwind gorge makes no sense. Unless blizzard realizes that any team who still happens to use DH have a huge advantage on that map. But I doubt it. Cause there pvp dev gets carried by a 2800 team in rbgs. And thats ok.

Now as far as seething goes. Sure it is a horrible map. But you could get lucky and q into a selfplay team that auto leaves every seething shore. There are a few teams like that. Its very nice to have a 5 minute game on seething. But yes the majority are all 30+ minutes long. With random RNG. No other rbg has rng on where bases spawn. And yeah it is very buggy. And the fact that one team usually always gets 2 nodes off the rip is very discouraging as well. But hey like I said just pray you q into the teams who do selfplays and refuse to play the map! FREE POINTS!

Okay well last time I checked, my experiences were never false. And where am I wrong? Because most of what i wrote in my response was in agreement with you, so if you are saying I am wrong, then you are contradicting yourself. So am I wrong that Deepwind Gorge is a good map? Am I wrong about saying I was disappointed in the Game Developers? Tell me where am I wrong.

Stop trying to start something. Keep your posts on topic.

You said I was wrong, so I am asking you to show me where I was wrong. If you call that starting something then you should of never asked for others to voice their opinions.

You once beat a team that didn’t take long probably due to a D/C does not change how the length of Seething shore vs equal teams. Stop posting it’s really cringe.

How is it cringe? And it wasn’t due to a D/C.
