It is even more frustrating when you join a game in the middle where your side is already at a disadvantage

I think they should just add bombs to the BG. So you can backdoor the main-gate.
Maybe not remove it, but a blacklist option would be nice so those of us that don’t enjoy this map can just avoid it
Not sure what it is, but ever since prepatch went live it seems like an unusual amount of WG pops when queueing random
… I’m guessing it’s due to BG week being up and large swathes of players leaving either when they zone in (on offense) or right after the first teamfight is lost
I think yesterday out of 6 random pops, 4 of the pops were loading into a WG offense lol…
the map does need a bit of an overhaul, but it is salvageable. they need to remove the timer and redesign it around the game also ending when the defending team destroys all 3 towers. that way you end up with an Offense and Defense dynamic on both sides with continued back and forth play throughout the game, instead of just a once and done battle at SR.
Defense team need a new win-condition, there’s no point in waiting 10 minutes with 3 towers down when it’s obvious who is winning.
I thought of a mirrored map where there’s 2 castle and 6 towers in the middle, like a moba map.
asymmetrical maps are better in the long run IMO, it creates strategy differences.
if i was redesigning the map, i would leave the design mostly the same, but i would make it so the towers have more HP, but also the southern workshops, east and west park, are always controlled by the attacking team. the only workshops you could fight over is SR and BT.
then, make it so the vehicles are prespawned outside the workshop similar to IoC where you can get a siege engine on a timer. you could have something like 1 seige, 2 demos, and 3 catas per workshop. this would eliminate rank from the match entirely.
this would result in you having to fight for both BT and SR at the start as if you go BT and they go SR, both of you can bypass the other and attack the objectives without resistance. this means both teams would have to split between BT and SR and use winning one as a foothold to push their advance on the map.
it also means that the map is active on both sides all the time, defense no longer wins by default by running the timer out, and the game is no longer decided at the initial SR team fight.
I like that idea, it could be a race like AV or attrition with defenders. They’d have to swap timer for reinforcements.
It’s insane how just small adjustments to existing BG maps could help with balance.
