anyone know how to remove the “Voice” tab from the chat window?

i’m honestly not even sure WHAT i did to cause it to appear, but its not showing up on any of my other characters at all, and nothing i do will make it go away. i can’t close it out like i normally can, and i’m at a loss for what to do. ._.
If you right-click on the general window and hit settings. Then click the Channels section on that first “general” tab, does it show up there? Does it have an option delete there?
Found it. Under Interface > Accessibility. Check to see if you have the option Speak for me in Voice Chat checked.
That seems to create and remove the Voice tab.

edit: i should point out rq too, that the option wasn’t even checked, but when i checked and unchecked it, the chat window for Voice disappeared.
is there a way to remove the TTS tab that shows up in the chat settings panel? since 9.1 when you right click settings from the chat tab tab 3 was converted to being used by the new TTS accessibility, is there some way to turn this off?
previously the 3rd tab was tended to be used for most servers local defense but now if you have a chat addon like chatter tab 3 is claimed by TTS and you cant change the color or anything, so anything that was previously holding tab 3 is now considered channel 4.
Also previously /4 was typically bound to WorldDefense that seems to require passwords now on one of my toons, as well as not being enabled by default.
I’m not sure exactly what you are seeing. Do you have TTS enabled? Under Interface > Accessibility do you have “Read Chat to Text outloud” checked?
I don’t have a clear picture of what you may be seeing though so it’s hard to say what options you may have. That said, if a chat addon is doing something with your chat options it is best to take it up with that addons creators.
If it requires a password it is likely a player-created channel you are attempting to join and not WorldDefense. I don’t believe WorldDefense exists outside of Classic.
Ah, it looks like that happens when you have another tab created that isn’t part of the default.
It would probably be considered a bug so I’d recommend reporting it as such so our QA team can take a look.
Something like, if a new chat tab is created, the Text to Speech tab appears automatically, replacing the created tab even if Text to Speech isn’t active.
yeah before 9.1 previously tab 3 in my case was used by my chat tab for guild chatter, and once 9.1 hit this new TTS window took its place so my guild tab even though its shown on my chat frame as tab 3, is now considered tab 4 when go to chatters settings to adjust font style or sizing as intended by the addon itself.
im not sure if that is directly tied to chatters doing or if its a bug as you say. though i havent opened the settings pane with addons disabled to see if i get what youre stating that new players would see.
I mainly only use chatter addon for chat handling purely so i can make text sizes bigger than the default games at 18, with the addon im able to actually read chat as text size is 20+
my guess is seeing as i had the guild channel in its own tab prior to 9.1, when 9.1 hit the new TTS tab took its place but visually shows as it does in my screenshot above rather than being in its seperate tab, whats the proper route for bug ticketing again? forums or in game?
Either works, but you can usually include more information in a forum posts in the Bug Report forum for the more complicated issues. Including screenshots, as you did here.
Just wanted to come in and echo this issue, I also had a few chat windows going into 9.1 and one got turned into a text to speech channel that I can not change.
Has there been an update on this? I’ve never had a Voice channel before. I refreshed my UI today and my third tab (which was for Loot) is now Voice and I cannot change it OR use it for anything else.
Please don’t necro old threads. And what I did to fix this was disable voice chat in the parental controls. There may be other methods, but I’m it sure.
