How does it take reading and understanding of the world to type in the quest name and be given a map showing you exactly where the thing is?
My point is about your argument that not having a quest helper means needing to explore, get lost, etc.
Which simply isn’t true given the many avenues to simply find the information otherwise, or to have already had it because this is a 15 year old game.
Based on the forums over the years I’d say it’s more because people feel like fighting mobs in the world became brain dead easy, so they just stopped caring.
Or if it’s because people simply never cared about quests then all they need do today is spam accept quest and type in the name on WoWhead.
Online database sites are a lot more used and accurate these days than in 2004.
Ok at this point you’re being obtuse because you really don’t have an argument and really don’t want your hand holding addons to go away. Looking at a map and figuring out how to read that map and get your self to that point on said map while not hard is still much more engaging and requires more interaction that just mindlessly following a GPS.
Yes, we cannot 100 percent recreate the Vanilla experience, but we can do our best to try.
I, for one, am ashamed at all of my WoW Classic veterans fighting for Questing Addons.
It is essential that we preserve the most Vanilla experience of players having to read or go to third party websites to capture what made Vanilla so special, community.
Questing add-ons did not exist for most of WoW Vanilla’s existence. After automated quest tracking was added by Blizzard, it harmed the community greatly each time a new expansion was released.
No longer did players reach out to each other. They just followed a straight line to where it told them to go.
actually this is false. i remember about a week after i hit 60 there were questing addons already. *note i hit 60 in about 2 and a half months after live hit so we can round the time it took me to hit 60 and a week after to 3 months after live hit.
whereas call to arms the “lfg” addon that was in vanllia was only in from 1.11 onwards.
at least if youre gonna make a comparison do it with actual things that are similar.
also your previous statement that questing addons “automate” questing is false as well but im sure you knew that.
