Remove the Questing Addons

Cosmos had a quest helper in it, and i believe there was one just called Quest Helper.

Theyve been around so long now.

I feel there’s a balance to the addon usage. Enough to make the game a bit less tedious to navigate (Questie, for example), but not too much to take away from the social aspect (LFG finder).

But, these threads are fun. I suppose, if you want to make the experience authentic, you’d need to find a pentium III computer with 128mb ram, a voodoo 2 video card and a 4:3 CRT monitor. chug chug chug along.

Have you ever considered that a leveling add-on didn’t exist at vanilla launch because no one had enough information to actually make one?

Man it’s been a long time so I don’t remember the names, but I remember when they were still doing server 60 firsts most of the people hitting 60 first where using them, and that is how I first learned and tried one.

Actually, I think there were questing addons at launch that had been developed in the beta.

I can’t find the beta addons someone linked me to a few weeks ago, but here’s an early Curse archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20050115054611/http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php

like you know 0 about what you’re talking about, questing addons go all the way back to 04 and even if you were one that didn’t use them then most likely you would look up a quest online. it’s not up to you on how someone plays the game…

I started out not using a quest addon in Classic for the first several days, and it was fine. When I’d run into a confusing quest, I’d just look it up on Wowhead. I never bothered with asking others in-game for directions.

What finally pushed me into using a questing addon was that grey quests stopped showing up on questgivers, and there was no way to turn the quest indicators back on in the UI. Experiencing every quest that Classic has to offer is my entire reason for playing it, so the possibility of missing any of them was frustrating.

We had addons in Classic for quest, we had coordinates and thottbot to help us around on where to go for quest and what to kill.

Ok so back in the days, I would print out a map of the game with quest locations and such. Addons came out fairly early because by the time I hit L60, I was using them. (ok maybe I was a slow leveler too… :P)

questing addons have been in the game almost from the start

Whelp, then they came out even faster than i thought.

That’s neat.

I totally forgot about Alakazham! Ah, the good ol’ days.
