I hate it. I love leveling alts, its my favorite part of the game. Why restrict how many I can level? This change wouldnt hurt anyone and would make a few people extremely happy.
Probably so some lunatic doesn’t level 5000 characters and take up all the server space.
TOR lets me have like 200 characters and their servers are held together with wishes and twine. I think Blizz can handle it too.
Yes, I want more gnomes
*face contorts and eye twitches involuntarily trying to process how anyone could level 50 alts…
Isn’t that just basic text storage though? I would imagine full character data takes up more space. I don’t actually know, though - just taking a guess at why the limit exists.
The best reason I can think of for it is to encourage people to pay for more accounts.
When you enjoy leveling and have played the game for 16 years its not very hard.
Fifty characters means fifty chances at Invincible per week.
I would happily buy more character slots if it’s a money thing. It’s really unorganised having to have two accounts.
Yeah, the reason I’ve never paid for a second account is because I dont want to have to fully log out of the game and switch accounts to see my other characters.
Like, if you could move characters freely between accounts. (they are on the same Bnet account) as long as they are on the same server, then I’d be ok with it. But… having some there, some there… its confusing. I’d totally have 1 account horde and 1 account alliance, for example.
Ahh, well since you explain it like that, I totally get it.
That’s great man. How many alts would you really like to have if they were allowed a limitless amount?
Ideally at least one of each spec on both factions, though I like some specs more and have already double or tripled up on them so it’d be more the the bare minimum for that.
You can already have +400 characters on your account. Why not making it account-wide and be done with it?
For myself, I have 48 characters (7 of them 60s, 27 of them between 50 and 59, 6 of them old twink characters, 4 are 45, and 4 are lower level with 2 being leveled currently [I was at 50 characters on the main account at the end of BFA, and deleted 4—two of them 120—so I could have a 2nd kul’tiran and a horde pandaren with 2 free]) on my main account spread across 6 servers. I’m at the point where I’ll need to delete (or move to 2nd account) a few probably if we get more races/classes. I’ve deleted so many over the years because of the old server limits plus a few more because of the 50 max and introduction of allied races. I also have a second account under mine that has 37 characters (3 at 50, most of others are old twinks, many of them moved from my main account to open character slots up), though the last I had it subbed was for one month during BFA at the beginning (7.3.5 greatly lowered my interest in twinking and the level squish killed what interest was left). I also have a 3rd account under mine with 15 or so characters, but I haven’t had a sub on it since MoP, I think. Some of us are just crazy.
Though I feel currently the 50 character limit is probably enough for the vast majority of players, especially those who don’t play across multiple servers, you need 46 characters to have a male and female of each race or 48 if you want both alliance and horde male+female pandaren. However, with the change to the barber where you can switch between male and female this issue is less pronounced though some like myself still like to have one of each.
If Blizz added a character slot purchase, I’d probably buy into it. At 60 slots, I’d be fine for some added races, classes, and allied races though at 75, I would probably even buy some more character transfers to move some of my 2nd account twinks (back) over to my main account. Some of them have sentimental value, which is why I never deleted them.
Hey I haven’t seen this brought up in a while
Keep up the fight bro’s, I’m rooting for you.
50 chances at Big Love Rocket per day
I have one character and a banker lmao…
/bow
I had to delete a character for new races as well, immediately regretted it, bought a second account transferred some characters to it then restored my bro
