Remove Mercenary mode Blizzard!

Tired of afk horde in mercenary mode, they only come to farm honor to gear their boosted tons on the alliance side.

Or, we get cross faction and then it’s just afk players ruining things.

Epic bg queue times are pretty horrid as horde.

Random bgs are usually 2 to 3 minutes shorter. That’s not too big a difference but when you want to play, you want to play now.

The other real problem is gear disparity. I don’t blame any player wanting to use mercenary mode to get faster queues to grind the gear out quicker. It’s such a nightmare being so low geared.

let them gear in their own faction then, why put a burden on the alliance side??? give them the option of mercenary mode when at least have the honor gear and see how many will be interested in farming honor in the alliance side after, you wont see much of them by then because they need wins to gear to the next level

Mercs are fine. Stop blaming your bad gameplay on other people.

Your Full of BS

It really is funny to imagine somebody honing in on a single allied player that just happens to be a merc in a match featuring 80 headless chickens and thinking it’s some plot to destroy their factions winrate or something.

I think cross faction play is only doable if there is a way to reward effort, and punish afk players.

And I don’t think a deserter buff is the answer. Until they solve afk’rs merc play and cross faction play will be tough to balance.

Is there some alternate plane of existence where mercs AFK disproportionately more or something

Their imagination.
It’s easier to blame other people (mercs) than it is to accept responsibility and look at your own shortcomings.

I think the point is that horde do not have to carry undergeared or afk alliance. Alliance are getting stuck with those type of horde players. Both factions deal with players that afk or troll on their own faction, but only alliance have to deal with it from both factions.

Counteroffer - give Horde the Ally honor bonus when we merc

Still in equal numbers though. Horde and Alliance are all just humans.

true, however you are charging double to the alliance faction for that!

It’s not in equal numbers if one faction has their own misfits to deal with as well as a portion of the other faction. When horde have to deal with their own undergeared and afk as well as a portion of the alliance, then it’s equal.

I don’t really know how you’re coming to this conclusion. I’ll play both and it’s just the luck of the draw, with no particularly weird behavior from mercs. Sometimes in a 40 man you have 4 people soft-afking or doing their own weird thing, other matches it’ll be 14

Or you have 3 offline, 5 randomly stuff, then 10 very undergeared players, and you just lose the first team fight, which means 5 people AFK out of the battle immediately and another 10+ soft-afk because they assume it’s over and it just kind of cascades

If you really played both you will understand. Don’t get me wrong ally has alot of casuals/bad player but the people undergeared and raging in epic bg chat almost always a horde in merc mode. Random bg isn’t as bad though.

Curiously enough the last merc AV I did had a male human ret paladin going on a massive rant about mercs in the first minute or so of the game before anything had happened.

No, it’s equal. Any claim otherwise is a conspiracy theory.

It’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s math. How many undergeared and afk alliance do horde have to carry in bgs? How many undergeared and afk horde do alliance have to carry?

Your denial and slapping a “conspiracy” on it, doesn’t change the fact that only alliance have to deal with this from both factions.

Blizzard instituted merc mode as a relief valve for queues and instead, they just made it a permanent feature that doesn’t even appear to be monitored to see if queues are high enough to warrant it.

I’m not saying it’s the norm. I’m saying it happens to alliance. It does not happen to horde. Arguing over how often or how much is irrelevant to the fact that it does happen.

We know that the Horde PvP population greatly outnumbers the Alliance PvP population.
This also means a higher population of ungeared, trolls, or AFKers. To use an arbitrary example, if we suggest that there are 5 trolls per 100 players then Horde will have a larger number of trolls to deal with.
So where are you getting the idea that mafs supports your idea about mercs?

Zero.

More than zero.

How many undergeared/afk Horde players do Horde have to carry?

When it comes to mercs, the faction is irrelevant. As Snow said, horde and alliance are both just people. If one team slot is taken by a troll, it is irrelevant whether it is an alliance player or a horde player merc’ing. Both teams have to deal with it.

You seem incapable of recognizing that merc’ing does not mean the player is undergeared, AFKing, or trolling. Geared players who put in effort also merc. You’re trying to make assumptions and implications based on your desired narrative that “merCs aRE BAd”.
