Lock the vault to require 8 different dungeons, and it at least partially counters this. And right now delves drop Hero gear, so no one would do what you’re suggesting except for trinkets anyway. And even if they do, you’re still making M+ more popular again while having its own reward niche, so it sounds fine. If you switch to a currency based gear reward system for M+ and limit amount earned per week (and possibly per dungeon), then pretty much every concern is addressed?
This only works if you have daily dungeon limits and resets. Otherwise you’d just have 80 people sitting outside of Mists.
Say 2x a day allowing 16 M+ a day per player.

Good idea, as long as it comes with some limitation or lockout system. Nobody wants to run Ara Kara 8 times every week.
Run any dungeon you want, but only loot 8 per week. 2 cantankerous birds with one shiny stone. Limited loot would let us have higher quality drops.
Yeah. And people who want to spend their entire lives trying for io would still be able to do it to their little hearts content. But it would balance out loot vs raiding all the rewards could be better.
Keys being an infinite loot piñata has been an issue since M+ became a thing. They’ve tried 394848845 ways to fix it. Except not giving infinite loot. Which is the actual real problem. If loot rains from the sky loot is essentially meaningless.
That’s why people who raid hard raids often dislike M+. The extra loot becomes required if they want to keep their raid spots. Instead of raiding twice a week for two hours they now have to do hours and hours of keys on top of it. No one wants that except M+ only players.
Interesting concept but I do like the idea of keys but I would mind if we could swap them for different dungeons once or twice a week
Unless you locked players out from farming “easy runs”. You want a shot at AraKara loot? You need to complete that dungeon for it to come into play on the loot table.
That would get rid of people farming 2 dungeons. If they did then they would only get loot in their vault from those dungeons. You wanna run AK 8 times in the week for a chance at the trinket in your vault? Cool, that’s your week to spend doing that.
I think it would give players a little more of a way to control what drops in their vaults. It would still be “random” but from the dungeons you’re targeting.

According to raiderio, SL and DF had around 20 million M+ done per season on average.
WoW’s estimated current sub number is around 5-7 millions. Those players did totally 20 million M+ in a season. So each player did less than 4 per season on average, which is less than 1 per month. (Let’s say each season lasts around 6 months.)
That is pretty dead content.
And that is just on average. In reality, 90% of those runs were done by the same 10% of M+ players. M+ is pretty dead for the vastly majority of player base.
