When a fresh Classic is launched, these game-killing changes need to be erased.
People play an MMORPG to be in a living world, not different layers. Id rather sit in queues to play a good game than to hop into a layered disaster.
Chronoboon too severely damages the open world. Turns Classic into a TBC City simulator. Hunting people with buffs, or obtaining/preserving them was a game within the game. It gave people reason to work together and against each other all over Azeroth. Also few things better in this game than catching and killing a fully buffed tank.
People who logged their characters out are not an argument. Dont acknowledge the mental cases.
The new PvP system is an abomination. Handing out Rank 14 for free to anyone is completely destroying the feeling of the game world. The harder Rank 14 is to obtain, the cooler it is for the people who choose to sacrifice for it by torturing themselves. It also creates tension and causes drama, which is the fuel for any healthy server in an MMORPG. Im not biased because i never did or would do Rank 14 legitimately.
Seeing a Rank 14 player in the world should remain a rare experience. Not “Oh another Sand Marshal Era baby who doesnt fight back”.
These arent my opinions. Thats just how it is.
SoD obviously was another massive failure. I couldve told your team this after the reveal trailer. Who even wants seasons?
Release fresh Classic. Bonus points if all addons are disabled. Oh and obviously ban GDKP.
I think being able to play on your character after you get world buffs is pretty nice. Not sure who in their right mind would actually agree with you on this. What exactly is the benefit in removing boons?
While I do agree it is a bit silly that everyone and their mother is now a high warlord, it’s not really easier in all cases. If you really wanted high warlord before you could have transferred to the dead PvP cluster and got it there.
I have wanted to play a vanilla server starting from patch 1.1 on an official server this whole time. I miss having to deal with those dungeons with old gearing and specs. It was the most fun the game has ever been.
I’ve seen this sentiment a few times, both from Upright and at least one other. I don’t understand it either.
Chronoboon only serves to give people more incentive to go into the world, not less. I remember what it was like before Chronoboon was introduced and everybody was just raid logging to preserve buffs. Some folks still raid log now for sure, but at least they do it because they want to, not because they feel like they have to.
I don’t understand what the problem with Chronoboon is.
No sane person did that. As stated, the few mentally unstable people doing so should not even be acknowledged. Weirdo creeps who shackle themselves to temporary buffs in a videogame and throw temper tantrums upon losing them are not be paid attention to.
The world had raid groups cooperating and working against each other, some people trying to preserve buffs, some trying to take them away. A very entertaining, constantly ongoing cat and mouse game. Of course others tried it alone. Catching fully buffed tanks in Booty Bay or Orgrimmar are some of the biggest jackpot moments Classic offered. Just too satisfying. World buffs in that sense created great gameplay and great content.
Hey, so it sounds like your experience in 2019-2021 was very different than my experience. I want you to understand that I’m not being dismissive here. I’m not joking when I said that nobody logged in so they could save their buffs. Which meant that people weren’t running dungeons or doing things out on the world on characters that they intended to bring to raids. They would go out, get their world buffs, hearth to SW/IF and then log out until raid time.
As someone who just really loves running dungeons, this was a large contributing factor for me taking a break from WoW Classic shortly before the launch of AQ40. After the introduction of Chronoboon it was soooooooooo much better on my server.
So it occurs to me that it might be worth…
Considering the difference between a PvE server (where I play) and a PvP server (where you play).
Expanding our data points and asking others what their experiences were.
I mean, if your core premise here is that Chronoboon no longer allows you an avenue to grief other players and take away their buffs… that’s a fine enough stance to take I suppose but it certainly doesn’t mean that Chronoboon was a detriment to world engagement. It just means that a specific activity that you liked was taken away.
I’m not trying to invalidate your perspective on world buff griefing… “fun” in PvP can be very subjective and I feel like being on a PvP server is an opt-in to the risks, but that’s a very different premise than the one you’re presenting.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but in this scenario you’d only be able to strip off the songflower buff, with the others already being stored in the chronoboon?
Unless your intent is to point out that this might be a great place for those wishing to partake in world buff griefing to camp, and find targets… in which case I would absolutely agree.
Unless they are unbooned with DMT buffs out or re-boon right after getting Songflowers before hearthing or taking a port, yes.
I personally have ran around with DMT buffs out and unbooned right after quite a bit lately just because dispelling or getting ganked at a songflower hasn’t really been a problem for me. I know some just don’t take the risk.
Do you need to restore buffs in order to store new ones?
I don’t actually use it. For personal reasons that apply to me and me alone, I choose not to use the chronoboon. I don’t judge anybody else for using it nor do I expect anybody to align with my views on this. This does mean that there are gaps in my knowledge with regards to its use though, which is why I’m asking these questions. I appreciate your clarifications here.
Yes you do. But if people want to be safe they can hearth out or take a port before doing so. Still it is possible to predict where people are going to unboon and wait for them there.
Thank you for your help so far. Please help me confirm my understanding.
I can have all my world buffs except for Songflower stored. I show up to Felwood, get the buff, then hearth to safety. I can then restore my buffs, then store them again adding the songflower buff to the chronoboon.
Thank you This aligns with my understanding of how it worked but your post threw me a bit and I wanted to confirm before responding just in case my inexperience with it led me to some incorrect assumptions.
So… camping that spot might let you get someone’s songflower, or it might let you get all their buffs depending on what the individual does. Regardless though, it’s an opportunity to engage in world pvp, especially if one does some legwork up front and identifies what the schedules are for the raiding guilds on their server’s opposing faction.
Haha yea I said Ferelas didn’t I? I was even mentally picturing the green ooze in Felwood when I wrote it. I’ll correct that, thanks.
Yes. Although only songflower and DMT buffs can be dispelled. Rend, Dragonslayer, ZG buff and DMF buff are not categorized as magical effects and thus cannot be dispelled.
Another part of this is if its fresh maybe don’t roll on a PvP server if you don’t like what comes with it. Absolutely no excuses to roll on a fresh PvP server and not know what it is going to be like.
