I wish this forum had downvotes.
I’m always kinda torn on this one.
I’d be okay with a 6 month removal as experiment and see what happens.
Ganking raiders heading to raid with full buffs is one of most entertaining things one can do in wow.
We had how many months of era with no chrono boon, we already know exactly how that looks, it’s why they added the thing in the first place.
Zero on Era. The boon came before tbc released like a few weeks after naxx released right?
Era can handle the fun we are adults, we don’t need blizzard holding our hand to get to raid safely.
Feel free to not use it if you choose.
But me not using it, doesn’t allow me to reck bomb a lil hordie on their way to raid and burn their buffs.
Too bad so sad
The question is whether safety to raid, being able to pvp while having buffs, is worth the tradeoff that Azeroth is way safer and there are less large scale guild conflicts and griefing.
Its really quite sad that PvP for many in wow is how they can grief other players, not actual pvp. Would love to see organized PvP where groups would go out and fight other groups. Sadly any real potential of this died in vanilla when they launched BGs and killed any chance for world PvP to really be anything but people griefing other players.
Right we literally had all of vanilla except a few weeks of Naxx before TBC without boon.
There’s no mystery about what that is like, which is why the boon was added.

Having no boon did exactly this. You kill a few of their players, then they try to gank your guild during your raid, so you have to have people on alts helping defend, and quickly you have psyops, spies, summoning groups, large scale pvp.

people do organize pvp groups all the time. In wargames or just trying to match good players in BGs…
But griefing is also a part of the game and what makes the world fun. Or else its just a super safe boring lobby. People who want to play hello kitty safe adventure can roll on pve servers.
Sure, as long as they don’t tick down unless you’re in a raid instance. So my ony buff stays at 120min til I zone in.
In my opinion and while it’s possible I haven’t seen it, I think I just think of PvP in a completely different standard, and no stripping buffs from someone isn’t real world PvP. This isn’t bad, but most wow PvP falls into what could easily be considered the griefing category or into simplified PvP games (BGs).
My idea of what world PvP is just differs, having played games which were more PvP focused, its simply different, and the world PvP has never even come close to the 8man PvP we saw in DAOC, as an example, or the more epic fights where you saw huge groups fighting, dwarfing what you would see in AV.
This isn’t bad/good, as I do think more people enjoy the wow gamification of PvP.
Team pvp is really good in WSG.
World pvp needs objectives, keeping buffs alive are a good one, because there will always be a clear winner and loser.
Any pvp in the world is world pvp. Life isn’t a boxing match, nature isn’t going to hold your hand because you weren’t ready.
WSG is a simplified game, and most of the time, its randoms vs randoms, where the quality of PvP is low, the zone is also tiny preventing the ability for extension groups. Its also just the people who get in, so there is no risk/challenge of being hit by additional groups while your fighting.
if you don’t like wsg, idk what you want.
Chronoboon increases world pvp at a cost of raid convenience.
There are tons of players in this game who seem to want some ultra-specific pvp moment, and I tend to think they just only like pvp when they are winning.
There is nothing like what I think is good world PvP in WOW at least classic or any of the expansions I have played, they killed any chance for it with the launch of BGs. They simplified PvP and eliminated any real world group v group, and what could have been realm vs realm epic fights. Sadly the best world PvP in WOW probably occurred before launch of BGs and the honor system in vanilla.
The fact that people are complaining because they can’t grief other players by striping their buffs impacting PvE, just isn’t PvP its more griefing, which is fine if thats what you like, when I think of what I consider as PvP. Again though my expectations simply wont likely be met in wow.

PVP is player versus player, nothing to do with fairness.
Boon was added to make it easier for players that struggle to think 1 step ahead and dodge the greifers.
Instead of playing the game, they cried that it was too hard and that they were not able to play optimally because they were bad and other players were able to ambush them in the most obvious places.
I agree that there is no fairness in PvP. But wargames/bgs drastically limit what can occur, you simply can’t be in an epic group fight with another group, and get hit by 1 or even 2 other groups mid fight. World PvP in wow is simply just limited. The only real way to bring good world PvP to wow, is to eliminate BGs and that simply isn’t happening.
