or fix the damn thing. 117k+ reviews of the authenticator with a 2.5 stars. more than 50% of reviews are 1 star. really doesn’t make me want to even try it and that’s if i even could. how dumb of a system is it that i need my previous phone number to receive a code to confirm my new phone number? i changed phone number… if i had access to the previous one i wouldn’t be changing it…
Or simply remove in game restrictions and let us choose if we want the authenticator or not which would be such a simple solution.
Or at the very least fix the restrictions so they work properly. trying to queue my gambit key but the only option i have is to queue for a key i don’t have (streets)
Anyway that was my rant. doubt it will do anything tho. and no i don’t want to contact support to help me change my phone number as they ask for photo id which sounds ridiculous just to play a video game…
Usually you can move your existing number from one provider to another, keeping continuity between services. Ideally you could have removed the old number first even.
Ultimately it’s a means for security, that would hopefully keep your account safe. You will need to put in a ticket otherwise since your not able to remove the old number, sorry.

The Authenticator, and Blizzard Phone Notifications are security features for your account. We won’t remove them, or allow them to be removed if we can’t verify who is attempting to make the account changes.
Our support team is available to help you update the phone number on your account should you change your mind about your account security.
This is not something the support team is able to help with. If you’d like to provide suggestions or feedback directly to the game team, I would recommend using the in-game feedback form.
