Remove Auction House automation

Ban all addons.

Ban gathermate.
Ban literally anything that lights up people’s rotations for them.
People parse higher than me! Ban it all!

I’m not opposed to that but for gods sake let me keep recount! It’s the only addon I use :joy:

I dont use any AH addon. I also do not play the AH. But as long as you have to
manually click to post and cancel. It isnt counted as botting because its not
as long as you have to manually do anything.

They should at least add a cancel and repost cap. Even if you have 50k health pots in your bank toon. You should only be able to post 1000 this includes cancel scanning reposting. It would be account wide.

this just forces people into Tmog markets or similar, or worse needing to use Trade Chat to buy your consumables because everyone is post capped.

Also drives prices higher because nobody will want to post for cheap cheap if they have limited posts.

So using trade chat for trading and not Houkan spam? Wow what a concept.

So I moved to a town that doesn’t have general mail delivery. You gotta go to the post office and pick-up your stuff. I totally idealized this because I was like “yay I’m an adult I’m doing my errands look at me.” Now it’s just another chore on the list instead of just… appearing at my door.

You’ll idealize this now until you’re spending 10-20 minutes before raid trying to hunt down potions and flasks and wish you could just buy on the AH again.

half the tactics used on the AH would be illegal on the stock market.

Manipulation, insider trading, market reset…

this game literally has patch notes that tells me what’s gonna be good to sell in the new content patches it’s so easy
xD

Or you could stop being triggered that your gold to buy boosts takes more effort.

My theory is, if you break automation you’ll all but kill the AH. I don’t know about you guys but I sure as :poop: am not going to manually post 20 different items 1 by 1

And of course, “No one cares about you Kaurmine”, sure but I won’t be the only one and that will be the problem, less items = higher prices on what’s there → less buyers → less sold auctions → less incentive to post → less items repeat cycle

If the game is held together by spaghetti code, I guess you could say Warden is lost in the sauce.

The easiest solution is to grey out the “cancel auction” button after 1 minute. Enough time to cancel something if you forgot to add a zero to the price, but would eliminate cancel/repost behavior.

IOM those that argue AH addons are akin to botting need to check them out and see how they actually operate before they pull out the pitchforks.

I notice a common denominator when I see threads about AH automation; to me, it seems more to be about how players feel that the AH is unfair as their items are not selling as a direct, (and misguided), belief that it is a result of addon automation.

IMO such players should actually try these addons to see that there is little to no automation by addons; each type addon still requires a click, (including a mouse wheel scroll), to operate.

I believe there are many, many ways for players to have fun within this game; for me, I don’t play the AH, I also don’t do M+ or pvp, they are not fun for me, however, I don’t expect others to have their addons, such as timers, counters. trackers and meters should be disabled for the few times I do such activities.

I could argue that such addons give an unfair advantage to others as the base information is displayed in a way that is more user friendly.

Should I require others who use DBM, TidyPlates , WeakAuras, Quartz, Bartender, Skada, etc as I feel that I am at a disadvantage if I do not use the same addons?

I would argue not.

Blizzard never tried to keep the auction house a fair playing field. Why do you think they have?

Not only that, many bad actors also script/macro TSM so it turns into a fully fledged ToS breaking bot. Then they cry that “they got banned for TSM” when it’s basically meta for them all to do this.

Additionally, many bad actors also multibox AH to circumvent the rate limiting implemented to slow down the botting. I’ll often see a dozen or more suspect toons that are all operating in sync that appear to be controlled by one operator.

The AH unironically needs a captcha at this point.

Eh I think like 2 minutes would be pretty safe but not open up too much. But really no reason beyond that. The snooze you lose sort of thing.

No, the common denominator is that we see people instantly (within seconds) undercutting auctions at a speed no human could do.

People call it botting because it is botting.

It’d be nice if they did something so the token prices dropped to reflect the effort of the average player’s ability to accumulate gold, that’s for sure. It’s kind of a pisser when they’ve nerfed the ways to grind for gold and the market refuses to adjust because people are “totally not botting wink wink nudge nudge” the AH

you can make 2k daily just by doing callings on one character - that sounds pretty easy gold.
