Remove armor limitations for transmog

Allow plate to transmog to mail, cloth to plate, etc, etc. Any argument against kind of goes out the window when alliance warlocks can already transmog to the stormwind guard plate set. Besides the fact that plate wearers used to wear mail until level 40, and mail wearers leather. So allowing them to tmog that makes sense and if you’re gonna do that might as well just fully open it up. Transmog is literally illusion magic done by the Ethereals so there is no logical reason why I can’t make my cloth look like plate, or my plate like cloth.

Some might say “Oh that’d be so ridiculous!!!” In same cases maybe. But I think it’d make sense in a lot of places too. NPCs have been shown not having the same limitations as us. Paladin can run around in a dress, a mage in full plate. I think it’d add to the diversity and it wouldn’t be nearly as ridiculous as you think. Priests dressing in mail going full cleric. Mages in plate going Mystic Knight. Monks irl tend to wear cloth, not leather. Many Rogues would wear just civilian type clothing mostly found in cloth. “But really? A warrior running around in a dress?” Well I mean, Samurai’s wear cloth robes soooo. It’s not that much of a stretch. Warrior in leather would be like a beserker, or gladiator. Actually most “warriors” actually probably wore more leather historically. Plate mail types were used by knights, and soldiers. Warrior is a more broad term. IRL hunters are much more likely to wear leather rather than mail. However ranged soldiers would still wear heavy armour. Many hunters would also just wear regular civilian clothes (cloth). Lore can work for these classes wearing these armour pieces even if you ignore the fact that transmog is purely a cosmetic illusion anyways.

I know it’s wrong but I can’t help myself.

Yeah it will look completely ridiculous but I’ve always felt that shields look way too amazing to go so unused - by me - for transmog on my sweet priestliness

That is one set. ONE. Lets not completely destroy class identity.

Plenty of cloth that looks like plate, and vise versa. Really shouldn’t be limitations like this now.

No, I do not want my warriors dressing like mages. As much as I would love open transmoging, for the good of the game I say no.

Your reasonings are sound, but I prefer the classic style of restricting particular classes to particular armor weights.

Already happens, a good example are Nightborne Warriors wearing heritage.

And honestly what is wrong with a Dark Iron priest wearing plate? Sounds like it’s something any Dark Iron would do.

I would prefer to see restrictions lifted on ACQUISITION of transmog. Meaning, I should be able to add cloth pieces to my collection if I loot them on my Paladin, BUT so that my Cloth wearers can use it.

I don’t agree we should use other types of armor though.

It’s fully opened up in Everquest 2 and ESO and it didn’t kill either game. All it did was allow for more interesting sets.

Open it on up. We’re about to be able to run around mostly naked, which makes just as little sense, so we may as well also be able to wear dresses.

Imagine me in a dress. Adorable, right?

Killer idea. Maybe with the restriction that in order to unlock you must have at least one character on your account who could equip it. I do get tired of running old raids on alts sometimes only to have nothing but drops I’m farming on other toons to vendor when the boss falls over.

Class identity is a lie. People can make their class identity whatever they want it to be. Not have it forced on them by blizzard or anyone else. If I want my warrior to be a beserker in leather? I should damn well be able to. Blizzard has already said that if you wanna know someones class hover over them. It’s that simple. We also have a class colour nameplate feature. You want to maintain your current class identity? No one is stopping you. But you wanna RP as a blind priest with cursed vision of sargeras? Now you can! You lose nothing, while things are only gained.

Heritage armor is more related to the race. It would be a waste of rescources to design different hertitage armor for different classes. Armor tells you alot about the class and having open transmoging on random armor in the game will be very bad for the games health. At that point the only thing separating classes would be the abilities and that would be awful.

Then don’t participate in the increased options. No one is forcing you too. However you are wanting to limit others creative limitations. It doesn’t matter what others do cosmetically in the game.

In addition yes. Both should be made a thing.

Exactly!

That’s the only thing that should separate them. There is already several sets that cross this line. Might as well go all the way. If you need to know what class someone is, hover over them. It’s not hard.

I don’t see how in any universe MORE customisation options will hinder the health of the game. But ok.

Sometimes it is even as simple as wanting a hat or some pants too. In ESO my tank is doing a sort of fantasy middle-eastern theme. He’s in ornate plate with a turban and a skirt in the pants slot to do an armored robe type thing. The helm and pants are light armor (cloth) while the rest is heavy (plate.)

I should be able to do that in WoW too if I like. Half of the leather, cloth, and mail sets already have a lot of plate in them anyway to boot.

If you can equip it you should be able to mog it.

And don’t get me started on Nobelgarden adding new bunny ear mogs that could only be used for 1 week. grrr

That sounds good in theory. But that means plate wearers can mog whatever the heck they want, and cloth wearers get absolutely nada.

That’s fine. If people want to restrict themselves to only playing cloth wearers then that’s their problem. For those of us that play all classes it opens up infinite options for mogs.

No, let’s not

But I would still have to see it in game. So it does affect and matter to me.
