So the only thing im interested in remix are the purchasable rewards and nothing else.
That being said, also knowing that gear power for time runners will be reset in TWW, should I even bother upgrading my gear???

I wouldn’t bother upgrading gear unless you want to clear heroic raids, or maybe normal tot/soo.

Right, but is there a point to clearing them? Like do you need to clear those difficulties as a requirement for any cosmetic reward
Just tusks, if you don’t already have them or don’t want to farm retail for them. And the heirloom weapons.

Some of the zone rewards require some dungeons, but I don’t believe any are heroic or higher.

Are the heirloom weapon appearances exclusive to them?
Title for all heroic raids, claw of eternus, title for mythic raid, paragon of the mists. Associated FoS. If you have friends who are going hard in the mode, they can carry you through most of the content.
I believe they are recolors of the vanilla Horde pvp weapons. Some of them, at least.

Here’s the real answer…yes, if you want to buy all of the cosmetics quickly, you should at least upgrade your gear a few times so that you can complete the raids (and get invited in the first place). But no, I wouldn’t worry about upgrading it all the way.
Raids are by far the best source of bronze and at least the first 4 can be completed in less than 2 hours while providing right at 40Kish bronze with all things considered. And they are not at risk of getting nerfed.

Do they drop on LFR?
No. You buy them with currency that drops from Garry. The currency only drops in normal or higher.

What ya wanna do is make a toon you will use for the Dailies. You will get enough bronze if you do the dailies and at least two raids over two days to make one full round of upgrades. This toon will be your upgrade toon.
You then make another toon, and just level that sucker. You will get around 100k by the time you reach 70, plenty of bronze to buy a bunch of cosmetics. Then, dew it again.

What I’m doing is leveling alts and dumping their bronze at 70 into cosmetics. It’s a shame I’ll never get the titles but the upgrade treadmill is such a slog. I’ve done these raids many times already, too.
Maybe later in the event they’ll make gear less annoying to upgrade.
My problem is I have missing gear slots because I hit instances for the bronze instead of questing and I haven’t been able to clear Throne since groups fall apart after Ji-Kun.
But as far as mounts go I’ve already grabbed all the event exclusive ones plus one boss one.
as I look at all of the things you can buy, mounts, toys, gear, etc. there are very few things that I actually want. for instance, the shadow pan set for a pandaren (which I am not even sure I will play in retail lol).
After upgrading a few pieces of gear and seeing that bronze farming gets nerfed almost as soon as it is discovered, I think I will just keep my bronze for those few items and that is that. I am not going to run raids for titles, etc.
so, I guess it is all about what your goals are in remix and how much time you are willing to spend to meet them.

I did those on my alt while leveling. I wanted to get them done before the high level scaling kicked in and made me useless. Took a bit of time to get accepted into an SoO group at 63, but eventually did. Thankfully it had two superpowers in the group and we blitzed through.
I did not. I just leveled to 70 hoarding bronze. Had no issues at all, spent my bronze on mounts and now consider remix complete.

If you plan to play the event on the same character(s), I recommend doing at least some upgrades as it makes all content easier. If you’re just rolling, getting the 40k, and rerolling then just focus cosmetics.
Personally, while I am focusing on gearing one alt to max for the FoS and titles, I still plan to focus gear on my alts until they can at least do heroics for raid farming, since heroics supposedly give more bronze.
dont upgrade at all. i hit 70 and i have no problem with overly maxxed characters carving the path for me to finish my dailies quicker.
cosmetics > gear that will be deleted and converted to 430ish in prepatch
2 ways to look at it
If you upgrade you gear to max it will be easer to farm tons of bronze faster
if you just want the collectables, just do all lfr wing, dailies raid/scenario and dungeon
But what’s there beyond collectables??
