Reminder that rets are doing this

My favorite version of ret to fight was back in wod fighting cupid. Whatever that design was felt the best to play versus and it felt winnable and like I could lose on every trap. Game the last three expansions has moved away from CC chains for kills (HoJ-Trap-Fear) to more of a “just do damage and don’t be the first to die.” Those comps existed back before that like L S D and L S D2 during MoP was a disgusting dampener that just ran around surviving while pumping massive spell cleave damage. Even RMX doesn’t feel like it needs to extend CC chains, yeah they help but a lot of times you’ve lost the moment the first one lands because CD trading.

Why exactly are you hopeful? D3 literally killed the diablo franchise. They screwed D3 up so bad that they had to port it to consoles.

D4 is going to be what WOW needs. They need to do a complete 180 on game design. If D4 is even remotely like D3 its going to suck.

No economy or trading in D4 = Instant trash can game.

I wish I had devoted more time to giving WoD a try, I came back after not playing WoW almost 7 years to play WoD and LFG was miserable on horde side during S1.

Soon as I finished my elite set I stopped playing again until Legion S3. WoD did have a lot more utility with Ret being able to remove slows, and the 45% movement speed for 3 seconds on judgment was fun. I think healing was a bit lacking during that time but I don’t remember it clearly enough.

WoTLK was by far my favorite design. Good sustain, decent burst, solid offheals and shielding with sacred shield. Ret also still had seal of command for that “windfury” type burst, and wings were purgable / stealable. Also bubble still had the 50% damage penalty so it was an actual trade off.

Shocked pikaboo face

Sooo anyway, Rogue damage is a problem so we nerfed the everything from them.

I’m hopeful because they basically had d4 built, then decided it wasn’t the play and literally completely scrapped it and started over at zero.

They had the huge blunder at Blizzcon, and they have been much more active in the diablo scene since then. They are releasing quarterly updates, etc.

I just personally believe that with the change of the guard there (no jay wilson, no josh mosqueiro) and then the blunder at blizzcon, which led to them shifting David Kim into the limelight.

They know that Diablo is a huge huge franchise, and if done correctly that’s 10s of millions of dollars (maybe more.) I believe they truly don’t want to let us down this time.

You have to remember the playerbase blizzard designs around.

The people who wanted D2 have already moved on to PoE. They’ll come back to D4 for launch just like any good blizz customer will for any product launch. But blizzard isn’t designing the game in mind for them. They want the bored people on the toilet and the soccer moms who try to hide their gaming from the husband and kids.

And thus it depends on your definition of dead. To you it is. But for blizz so long as they have those people it won’t be.

blizzard totally makes games for closeted gamer soccer moms

Lol what? Their not a asleep, they just don’t care.

Yeah start of WoD S1 anyone who was anything in PvP swapped Alliance. It was probably the largest movement of players from Horde to Alliance in the games history. It was only possible because PvE did not matter for 99% of us. The spam slow removal made rets mobile but not disgusting and the speed on judgement felt really fun in most facets of the game.
I unfortunately didin’t play any wotlk pvp outside of bgs so I have 0 clue how ret felt back then

I think they fear upsetting people who have created a high level of investment in characters. They’ll do their mythic week and some tuning in the first month. But after that they really don’t want to step on people’s toes. And if that leaves people the short straw they practically imply that if you want rewards, you should be a fotm.

And I have no idea why they do this. Guess they made a judgment call that making the people who play on the un-toned-down specs throughout the first passes would be larger than everyone else who is shut out.
