Remember when Sylvanas was likeable?

To me Sylvanas was too similar to Kerrigan when i played WC3, she got turned into an “undead” by the monstrous faction and then turn against when their Hive mind control waned and now rules over a “swarm” of undead creatures that are “free” of said control, the only real diference is there, each of those “undead” creatures are their own individual or so we heard, so they can either be good or bad just like any other person of any other race, they are just “living impaired” i just Hope she doesn’t end like Kerrigan becoming the savior of the universe by becoming a super god like entity that destroys the void lords (that’s Azeroth’s job!) .

Yes I remember a time where I had empathy for her. It wasn’t her fault she was tormented until she went a bit crazy. Now she’s top of my enemy list.

No.

I never liked her. I dislike her even more now that i’m forced to see her face every time this game gets an update to its story.

Likeable in Warcraft III, Frozen Throne, WoW 2004-2012 basically.

No…no I don’t. I never liked her. Always wanted her to reveal her evil desires she was hiding.

Tell that to the Lordaeron humans she betrayed. No, she wasn’t likable in WC3 either, she was trash.

I agree OP. Its ashamed she made the Horde look bad and a reason why they got rid of the Warchief role. Its truly ashame. Such a beautiful character too far gone to be saved. Whatever her plan is in SL is not looking good.

She tried to get the alliance and horde to kill each other to feed the maw unknowingly, that already makes her unlikable enough. She betrayed the lordaeron humans and took over lordaeron herself, unlikable. If leaks are true about why she’s doing all this…(I won’t spoil it incase its true), then she’s the most self-centered narcissist character of all time. You’ll see why.

And she still is.

Nothing. It’s the same Sylvanas. Obviously you don’t get why she’s doing what she is. It doesn’t mean it’s any less evil, but it has some reasoning behind it.

Yup. In WC3 when she was still alive. She’s been a real downer since then.

Her actions in WC3 were understandable but they were not likeable. She was really dubious then too.

She was always a villain, worshiper of death, corruption and ruin, who always harbored hatred for the life and hope of the living.

Syl has always been a mean and unloved creature.

You mean the necklace she only accepted begrudgingly after she told you that you were an idiot for wasting your time retrieving it?

No, I don’t remember when Sylvanas was likeable because even at her best she was full tsundere which is the absolute worst waifu trope.

And yet she also gave it up willingly in BFA, and blighted it to hell to ensure it would not be used against her. I fully expect that Putress was a case of breaking his leash earlier than expected, and that was because Varimathras sensed his impending betrayal. The Undercity’s only value to her was the use the the location had, as well as the sentimentality it possessed to her enemies (Arthas and the Alliance).

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I don’t honestly recall a single time when Sylvanas was likeable, even when she was alive she was a pushy, cold-blooded goon.

I dunno. I like her infinitely more than Baine, Anduin, or their lot. She’s got that badass evil mastermind thing going on, and always has, even back in vanilla. Sylvanas, Jaina, Genn, Nathanos, and Bwan’samdi are my favorite lore characters in the game. They’re all badass types who go out and try and get things done, instead of going on and on about their hippie lifestyle (Baine), and aren’t just wanting to come together and sing kumbayah (Anduin).

This confuses me. Did you prefer if she would just welcome the scourge with open arms? maybe offer them a little quel’dorei wine?

Yeah, the most we’ve seen of Sylvanas while she was alive was her literally fighting a losing war, falling back step by step to buy as much time for her people as she could. That is… not the best representation of someone’s personality, y’know?

I would argue that it shows personality traits akin to intelligence, wit, stoicism, leadership, perseverance, determination, and great care for her own home.

She was a fan favorite for a reason. Now the community is divided because Blizzard took a big risk with her character, one that I’m not convinced will pay off somehow.

But as with anything, I can always hope it was somehow worth it in the end.

It also shows some of her flaws, as well, given her anger issues. But I was more pointing out that taking a snapshot of a person in their worst moment is generally a poor reflection of their overall being. By contrast, we see enough of characters like Thrall or Anduin that we have a much better understanding of them as a person than we do the living Sylvanas.
