FYI that is the catch all error for any non-allowed name. Go try the name “King” and you will get the same error.
I really don’t know. I don’t think it is fair to say that WoW does not recognize or approve of different spiritual paths because you cannot use certain names. If you look at the game itself and the religions in game you see more Pagan, Norse, Druidism and etc than you see Christian religions. Having something like representation in game is more important in my opinion than being able to use a name. If you want to make a community for Wiccans, Pagans, or whatever I feel it does not necessarily have to have that name. What is so wrong with naming it The Braided Wheel?
Lastly if you have tried to name anything in WoW you will see there are a ton of harmless words that are considered “adult”. My favorite of which is “hot” which prevented me from naming one of my pet chickens “hot wings” which is besties with the beer pet from MoP.
It’s against the rules to have communities named after religions or religious figures, same with guild names. So if you have a problem with them, report them and Blizzard will address it.
And people took the good ideas and practices and created the many different Traditions of Modern Wicca. Just because the man who started it had dubiousa intentions doesn’t mean that he didn’t tap into a desire and need for people to connect directly to the Gods and Goddesses in their lives.
But this isn’t a discussion about the validity of Wicca. It is a recognized religion and is just as valid as any other modern religion. All I’m asking is for Blizzard to explain why they consider my religion “adult” and won’t allow Pagan communities when they already allow Christian ones.
by this logic we better delete priest, monk and shaman too see you later healers
Paladins were the foremost knights under Charlemagne and are Christian figures.
so the game is warriors, hunters, mages and rogues sounds ok honestly
I read the Code of Conduct and it doesn’t mention religions at all. The Code of Conduct for the FORUMS bans language that “Negatively portray major religions or religious figures”. So some of you on this thread who disparaged my religion have broken the Code of Conduct.
Well for one thing witches are, as shown by Drustvar, not good people… They poison others with potions and elixirs, practice debilitating hexes and curses, raise the dead if associated with any necromancers, etc. What you are explicitly talking about is called druidic wicannism or nature worshipping, not “witchcraft”… “The Braided Wheel” if that’s the name of your particular druidic wiccan sect is fine, nothing “disparaging” about it, witches and warlocks on the other hand have a negative connotation in most old english inspired or influenced cultures and languages however…
Basically D&D version 1.
exactly back to the basics
I’m a Witch and proud of it. Many Pagans - and many Wiccans - refer to themselves as Witches and there’s nothing rude or disparaging about it. And we don’t believe in Satan; he’s evil personified in the Christian faith.
I went through a weird phase where I dated a wiccan. This was back when Myspace was the popular go to. She was obsessed with Gerald and his witch book. I ignored her until we went to a renaissance festival and bought her this really cool looking dagger. She sacrificed a rat with it and posted a picture on Myspace. Everyone came after me like I was part of this. You better hope nobody researches that your wiccan cult is very anti LGBT or you might get cancelled.
It’s not too late to become a Christian.
THE ‘Bobs’? Like the SubGenius Bob Dobbs?
The skepic in me feels like this is just a troll, but I will try to give you the benefits of the doubt. I consider myself loosely as a Christian. but I agree with you OP. If one group is allowed to maintain communities than every religious group should. Even Satanist and Pastafarians. As long as your community isn’t spreading messages of harm to other then it should be allowed.
Then you’re not a witch, a modern druid is much more accurate; different natures of magic practiced by witches and wiccans, witches traditionally were considered to practice Black unholy/unnatural magics and rites, Wiccans and Druids on the other hand practiced natural helpful magics like fertility crop rituals, nature worship, healing, etc.
Definition of witch . (Entry 1 of 2) 1 : one that is credited with usually malignant supernatural powers especially : a woman practicing usually black witchcraft often with the aid of a devil or familiar : sorceress — compare warlock.
One can use it in conjunction with “white” or “green” (witch) to denote one’s affiliation with natural white magics rather than unholy unnatural “black” magics but usage of the term “witch” by itself has negative connotations associated…
Titans our true gods
Fyi, very little is truly known about real druidism. Historically, the practice of druidism is from an outsider that twisted it. A roman conqueror that stated that druids did human sacrifices.
If we are truly honest, every religion is guilty of human sacrifices but it disguised under another name.
I was raised in christianity but turned my back on the denominations because of rampant hypocrisy among the believers.
Don’t get me wrong. I still believer in a Creator but believe that everyone has a wrong understanding of this Creator.
I embraced druidism.
Oh I am going to need a jumbo sized bucket of popcorn and a large soda, because this thread it going to be epic!
