Just so I know what I’m walking into on the 18th. The general exp needed to level was needed by 30%, and world and dungeon quest exp is buffed?
From what i’ve gathered, the exp needed from 20-60 was reduced by 30% and dungeon quest exp and quest exp in later brackets was also buffed.
Hmmmmm, ok. Cause I saw that video regarding STV chapters quests getting an exp buff, but I wasnt sure how spread out that was across the game :s
I’m not too sure what level bracket quests got an exp buff, but somebody out there will probably know the answer, sorry I wasn’t able to answer it fully.
So, from WoWpedia:
- Pre 2.3.0 you needed 4,084,700 experience to hit 60.
- Post 2.3.0 you needed 3,379,400. This is a decrease of 705,300 experience from pre-2.3.0.
Which looks like roughly a 17-18% reduction. Since it only applies to 11-60, I assume it’s actually 20%, as the links below indicate. However! Quests had their experience given increased as well. The patch notes say:
- The amount of experience needed to gain a level has been decreased between levels 11 and 60. In addition, the amount of experience granted by quests has been increased between levels 30 and 60.
They also list Patch 2.3.0 undocumented changes, and say this:
- Since players need 20% less experience to get from 20 to 60 level pets also need 20% less experience to ding at these levels.
Without knowing how much extra experience quests were given, I only feel comfortable saying “at least 20% faster, likely 30% faster, but unclear beyond that.”
All good! I’m thinking with the exp needed reduced and quest exp increased… Two weeks, while short, is doable.
Hmmmm, that’s actually not too bad! Really the only difficult part might be getting to the 30-60 range at a good pace
120 hours in 2 weeks is pretty tight for anyone that has any semblance of a real life at all. It’s really not enough time. But yeah, much shorter than the Classic slog. You can easily hit around 30,000 exp/hr between 35 and 55 so you’re looking at 2 - 3 hour levels in that stretch if you’re really banging out a grind or a good 5man dungeon cleave.
Another big thing most people don’t realize is the added flight paths and getting your Mount at level 30.
Classic isn’t really hard to level the biggest issue is traveling and not only does TBC reduce the experience required to level to 60 but it also greatly reduces the amount of traveling you have to do.
Yikes… Actually when you break it down like that,. You’d need to play 8-9 hours everyday during prepatch just to hit cap…
And that’s completely ignoring professions and gearing. You’d be in quest greens, barely with ~45 stats with no professions or rep to speak of, no epic mount… competing against people with 100,000g in their bags and full Naxx gear in Outlands.
Yeah the only pallys/shamans walking through the Dark Portal on release are going to be members of Naxx guilds.
Nah leveling is going to be super easy.
You have 8 hours a day to play for two weeks straight have at it.
I believe a lot of elite quests like the hinterlands trolls n whatnot have been made non-elite to be more solo friendly. Not 100% sure on this, but what I heard
It’s because you’re putting classic time of leveling I to what you’re predicting.
The truth is TBC leveling is more like 50% faster because of lower level mounts and far far less traveling. More quests, elite quests turned non elite. Added xp from most quests.
It is going to be easy.
Ooo i forgot about the added flight paths! Epic mount is still 60 though?
When you say they added quests… Like… quests to each zone or just I Outlands
They added a quest hub in dustwallow marsh.
I think they also added quests here and there in the old world.
Think about how massive mounts at 30 are.
Think back to your 30s-40. Walking all of stv to quest, walking desolace to quest, walking all over shimmering flats to quest and walking all of hillsbrad.
That 1 change alone will shave Hours off questing.
