Reforging in the prepatch

Is this a thing? Can I reforge to mastery in the cata prepatch or do I have to wait for full cata classic release?

Thx

This was not possible in Original Cataclysm and most likely won’t in Cata Classic.

Not true. You could reforge to Mastery in the pre-patch. I did it on my warlock back in the day (like a total noob because Mastery was not good for my spec).

But that is the only available source of Mastery since there are no buffs for it, and it’s only itemized on Cata gear/consumables.

Depends on the definition of prepatch. The Cataclysm prepatch had 3 different phases. The first one had no reforging (for OG players: the first phase was Operation: Gnomeregan and the troll thing).

Operation: Gnomeregan was added into the game’s files with Patch 3.3.5, so it’s part of the Wrath client/era (it’s possible to activate it on wotlk pservers for this reason). There was no separate patch for it, and it ended with the first pre-patch for Cata.

Cata’s two pre-patches were 4.0.1 and 4.0.3, and it’s very likely we’re just getting a single merged pre-patch anyway, since the client is based off 4.3.4. Otherwise they’d have to rebuild a custom patch just for the systems based off 4.0.1, and that would just be double the work.

It was still considered the prepatch or at least pre-event for Cataclysm. Again, comes down to what you consider prepatch or not. For some the event will already be prepatch (if they do that), and no reforging is not available there. When Cataclysm client hits, then ofc it will be available. Blizzard is lazy, as if they would remove the npc lol

woah woah
I need to parse during prepatch k?

Our tanks got wrekt by Festergut until they went back to town and reforged to mastery until they hit the block cap.
