Patch 1.3.0 (07-Mar-2005): Drop rates of very high-end gems have been somewhat increased on rich thorium veins.
Alongside the reduced tap bug that seems to be affecting veins

Now I hate to be the contrarian here but… 50 nodes is nowhere near enough to represent statistical significance.
If the community is really serious about documenting this people need to come together and create permanent logs of their harvesting across multiple servers which contain info on the different kind of Thorium nodes. You’re going to need at LEAST 10,000 samples to make any kind of judgement about their drop-rates or number of taps.

The problem is Blizzard should be paying people to do their beta testing.

Don’t be ridiculous. You don’t need 10,000 of anything to make a statistical analysis. You can start with 1000.
im on my 60th RTV node so far and i have seen 2 huge emeralds and 0 arcane crystals, 95% of my mining was done in Azshara and winterspring.
