Reduced dragon riding speed in old world content

i feel that travelling in the old world is trivial content and should be done quickly.

Honestly, I didn’t notice the 15% speed reduction at all!
How did you?

No, no, don’t you see, a single line of easily editable code costs us an entire raid tier, it’s a travesty!

how do you know that it is one single line of code they need to edit?

Why didn’t they increase standard flight speed to accommodate dragon isle zones?

Here’s their entire quote again since Bulakzebgor is afraid of posting the whole thing:

exactly!

they decided to reduce the speed of dragon riding in the old world BUT neglected to increase the speed of traditional flying in the dragon isles.

if their intent was to genuinely make travel between the old world and dragon isles equal, wouldn’t they increase the speed of traditional flying while in the dragon isles? i mean dragon isles is quite large, much larger than the old world, right?

It’s a design decision, not a technical limitation. We wanted to strike a balance with dragonriding still feeling authentic to its origins in the Dragon Isles while allowing for old world continents to not feel undersized in scale. Pre-Dragonflight continents were designed to be denser due to slower traversal speeds.

but isn’t the map of eastern kingdoms larger than the dragon isles?

and that’s not even counting all of the other continents in the old world

Kul tiras
Zandalar
Northrend
Pandaria
Outland
Draenor
Broken Shore
etc.

FWIW I haven’t noticed any meaningful speed difference dragon riding in old zones vs the dragon isles. The “feel” is about the same given how huge the dragon isles are.

The map yes, the actual zones no

The decision was: NO FUN ALLOWED, PLEBS!

what about when you add in all the other continents found in azeroth such as those i mentioned above?

if dragon isles is truly larger than azeroth, why did blizzard not increase the speed of traditional flying in dragon isles so that using traditional flying in the dragon isles felt more authentic to its origins in Azeroth?

Funny how you say this after you repeatedly claim that it cost them a lot of time and money to slightly reduce Dragon Riding in older zones.

You cannot travel continuously between continents. They are separate maps. There are future plans for both Dynamic Flight and Static Flight in The War Within.

so should we expect to see an increase in speed for traditional flying for future zones that are designed to be larger than those found in Azeroth (Pre-Dragon flight zones)?

To be completely honest I didn’t even notice a difference . . . dragon riding still be fast as all get out.
